Anyone have any ideas on this.
Well just in case you havent I have done a bit of homework and found this out.
1970 was when the first Kyosho prototype car was developed. It was 1/8 Scale. It had a slightly front tilting Ueda Engine. Radio used was a Futaba 1-Stick.
Anyone better that date?

How about the Tesla Teleautomaton...
http://www.pbs.org/tesla/ll/ll_robots.html
not exactly a rc car per se, but quite unequivocally the first rc model.
Patented in 1898.

And Nichimo made a Plymouth baracuda in 1966.

Explain, seing as you seem to know more than Kyosho. Please explain,
Why not look on the Kyosho home website in Japan and you can see for yourself, true it is, and the entire history of Kyosho is on it, and a small amount is below,
http://www.kyosho.com/eng/company/images/rccar_history/history_img34.jpg
1970: first prototype car completed. 1/8 Scale.
Loaded with slightly front tilting Ueda Engine. Radio used was a Futaba 1-Stick.
The Kyosho Dash 1 was also available to the public in October 1970 (one month after the showing of the 3 prototype cars, the first being in the picture above and the test was in a car park at Kokuritsu Gekijo in Miyakezaka Tokyo )
what came next?

I meant of the picture "this thread is no use without pichers"
I was saying that the image is not quite true in so far as I dont think the statement that the thread is useless without pictures is true - just that picies make it more interesting.

No probs, piccy is there now.
tomolupus - Sorted on the 1965 car info and yup the transmitters are huge, and the 70s car is great, was there anything earlier. I know the Germans in WW2 were working on development of RC stuff so was kindof hoping earlier but maybe this was where it all started. Nice on your PB1 car, its in better nick than some of todays cars.
purpletimbo - Now we know who is the real serious collector here dont we, top notch on getting your hands on that manual.

Perhaps the first rc "off-road buggy" was the Rough Rider? I don't know. I'm sure that the Rough Rider definately was early - being released on 1 Nov 1979, but it was mass produced...

The Ishimasa Rat-Buggy (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=51072&sid=3836) was the first off road buggy, about 72. Then the Kyosho Dash 3 (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=64863&id=19103).
Kyosho was first with electric buggies, with the Eleck Peanuts (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=61758&id=19103) in 1978, a conversion of their popular Peanuts series of buggies and truck. Tamiyas first off roader was the Cheetah (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=48690&id=4699), also in 78. it was a first in having double wishbone suspension all round, but being 1/12th scale it wasn't not quite big enough for proper off roading. The Rough Rider was the first 1/10th scale off road buggy with independent suspension, and the grand daddy of electric off road racing. The first buggy designed purely for racing was the AYK 566B (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=40349&id=5861). The first 4wd competition buggy was the Hirobo Rock'n City (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=40349&id=5861), it's also the first 4wd with belt drive and double wishbone suspension.
The first competition cars were made by Ra/Car and Ron Moody in the US, and the first US championship meeting was won by George Siposs in 1969. Other makes around at the time were Heathkit (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=50177&id=1501), Dynamic (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=79156&id=19103), Schuco-Hegi and Mardave.

Cool..
I had one of these..
http://www.cls.eclipse.co.uk/RCCars/Hirobo%20Zerda.jpg
Hirobo Zerda..
Went well, the only down side to it was it was completely belt drive! So from the pinion to spur gear it had a belt! So as you can imagine it slipt all the time  But still had some good racing with it. I know of at least one person who converted it to gear driven from the motor to spur, much better!

That bumper might have prevented all your wishbone breaking too Nick!! :D
Mine was Tandy Porsche 935 (pre lipo) circa 1983, did about 1mph!
Then got Tamiya pajero and my mate snapped the chassis on the first day! My old fella bodged it with some aluminium and was sorted, had loads of fun with that car.

Hi, I have been searching the net for information about this car your forum is the only place I found any history:thumbsup:
So I have logged on in the hope I might find out a bit more. Basically I have one of these + the full matching Metz Mecatron RC set. The car itself comes with stepper motors and even a proper clear sided lead acid battery pack. Its all boxed and 100% complete but it would be a shame to build it really.
I picked up two of these many years ago in an old toy store in Africa that was closing down as they looked cool. I came across a Schuco collector more than 10 years ago and he persuaded me to part with one set for what seemed a small fortune back then.
Anyway I would be grateful for any other infomation or literature that might be out there.
Once i figure out how to do pictures I will post some
Thanks

Hi all,
Has anybody got an idea of the value of this bundle of vintage joy?
I have another project that is burning a hole in my pocket and I am considering putting it up for sale
Thanks

very hard to say, I'm selling a few vintage team associated and kyosho dash 1 parts and the interest is limited. To the right seller they are worth more but I guess because of their age not to many people owned them, and due to that interest is low. I have a mint Dash 3 body and radio cover, that is supossed to be super rare, but people don't want to pay for it. One person offered me 50 US for them shipped another 150 euro plus shipping.
