Hello all, very excitedly, I just received a schumacher top cat today, I purchased off ebay. The top cat was my first rc car and one I never forgot. I first fell in love with schumacher from seeing both the cat xl and the XLS in the magazines, they just had something so special about them. A cool factor like none other, besides possible the Avante(which I just purchased a few days ago as well!!). I was in 4-5th grade and the new top cat ads with the white cloth covering the body, pulled my imagination in and I started working and saving harder then ever. I finally had saved enough and purchased it, if memory serves, I "think" from tower hobbies? I'll never forget the day the ups truck came to our house to drop it off and seeing the box for the first time. I LOVED that car lol and while I made many mistakes during the build, I couldn't afford any electronics, battery back or charger for quite some time, so I just tinkerd with it every day when I would come home from school, fixing many of my initial oversights. Not sure, why I waited so long but I saw it on ebay last week, I'll post pics shortly(needs a lot of help) and pulled the trigger. What a rush of memories came back today when I received it,seeing that box and instruction manual, which looked at pretty much every day for years.

As mentioned, last week I did purchase an Avante 2011(whichs looks immaculate), which I lusted after as well and a Predator X11, which I purchased off ebay just yesterday after trying to find someone here or on other forums that had one. I bought a few other cars last week as well, guess I'm having some kind of mid life crisis, trying to relive my childhood.

Anyway, enough of the ramblings, my questions to other top cat or cougar owners are as follows:

- I would like to go brushless with it, can the transmission handle it and if so, what's a realistic BL motor, that won't cause damage?

- Is it pretty much just ebay or this and rc10 forum in you all finding spare parts?

- I'm not quite sure the direction I'm going to go with it, but I'm thinking I may move away from some of the original parts and make it my dream top cat, using schumacher parts from other more modern vehicles. Do any of you know what the most recent/modern schumacher shocks would work, big bores possibly?

- I would love to find that beautiful red pan chassis from the cougar team car, anyone aware of where I could find one?

- Same question for those alloy roller drive shafts, to replace the black plastics

- Looking for some nice black wheels as well

- Aluminum transmission housing, red or blue, can be after market

I know that's alot of questions but even getting a few of them answered would be a tremendious help

My Topcat runs Hobbywing Ezrun 9t brushless, which whilst being fairly mild, being a 380 size can, is still pretty quick. Transmission has been OK so far, including a days racing at recent Iconic RC revival at A1 racing. If you plan to go for more power, Cougar 2 slipper fits.

Red chassis seem fairly rare, certainly in clean condition, plus you'd have to add holes for front shocks.

I have designed and tested some castle to 12mm hex adaptors which open up options for wheels, although JC items are nice.
