View Full Version : Serpent S411 - any good?

Hi there

I purchased a couple of S411 rollers second hand, one of which has some upgrades. I'm running it with a VXX ESC and 8.5 motor (a good one).

It's not been very reliable - first run one of the belts came off, second run I think I lost a CVD / Axle pin so it's 3wd. Also it's way too fast for the really quite large tarmac surface I run it on. What size 48 pinion should I be using?

Are these good cars? Worth keeping? I think I paid around £140 for both rollers. My only local RC club is 1/10 TC so I was hoping to get some practise in and go try it out a few days, see if I'm able to keep up at all.

Should I sell the cars for something more mainstream or keep them? I also have a fair amount of spares.

thanks

Where are you based
Where do you race?
Does anyone else local use a Serpent?
8.5 is neither stock nor mod so stick to 13.5 blinky or boosted most clubs run 1 or the other

I am based in West London
My nearest club is WLRC (near Hayes/Uxbridge)
I have not been there in ages, no idea what they race there. Unlikely to be Serpent right? There's no pit shop anyway.
I understand on the motor but not sure I have a 13.5 (might do) and just wanna get some practice in now - but wondering if these cars are race worthy or just finicky.

Go to the track on race day and have a look, most likely you'll see Xray, Schumacher, Yokomo, ARC but you may find the odd Serpent. 13.5 boosted or blinky are popular classes, 17.5 blinky is common and you may see some mod cars at WLRC.
