Have people been able to get acetone from B&Q or used an alternative?

Think you get just enough in a little bottle to do about a wheel... Think it's about £3

Your choice...

How do you use that, apply direct to the wheel etc and put the wheels in a sealed container?

Pricey as well..

You put acetone in a sealed container and leave em over night... then remove clean as a whistle..
Oh btw even if you leave them in there for a year it wont affect the structure of the wheels

Yup :) & I can't be doing with Royal Mail etc. as they're useless and should be sacked in my area. Hence the research for something I can get myself.

if you have any fiberglass workshops near you they will have loads and may sell you some acetone. I got some shipped from a fiberglass company in cornwall.

nail varnish remover will work as long as you get the stuff that has acetone in it. But it will take a long time to come off as it's only about 10% pure. plus as already said it is very expensive compared to the 5l cans of 99% pure acetone.

The other problem with nail varnish remover, is it can dye your wheels a different colour, my Yokomo BX, & JConcepts Rulux wheels, come out fine, my HotBodies D4 wheels, on the other hand, came out pink:woot:

I get mine from a place in Chichester which is on the A27 just near screw fix direct. The name has escaped me for the moment but they used to produce a kit car years ago. There also used to be an outlet of Strand Glass in Cosham near Sainsburys.
