They are great.
In 4x2 you will not reach its limit, in 4x4 depends on wich motors you use

There is no motor limit that you need to worry about!!

i m usin it with a 7.5t x12 , i highly recommend the usb adapter and the software , after finding the right setup , with 200A at the start and 250A max and some small adjustments , my b4 is a beast.
the bad thing about the genius series ist that they sometimes forget some of their adjustments ^^ so you need to do the programm again , i recommend to carry your notebook to the training so that you can change the progamms fast or redo them.

that is a big problem if they forget there settings, have gm sorted this out in a firmware update or cant you update it.

That's not good. Maybe look at Speed Passion instead. We were looking at GM as his motor is a GM 6.5

its not the bad you think, it takes me about 2 times to reenter the programm , until there was no reverse gear and some other meaningless settings, thats all , the main settings are still there.
besides i m useing an old firmeware , i think if got 4,xx and 7,xx ist out.
the new braking software is ace and you get them very cheap.
i prefer gm over the rest , the most of our 2wds run lrps and they don t have the power like my gm.

I've been running 2 GM esc's for just under a year, and not had either of them "lose" any settings.

What model are you running? The GMs do seem pricey.

I have a 90 and a 120. Both use exactly the same software!
The 120 is obviously the top line model, but I think i'm right in saying that it is still cheaper than the LRP/Nosram flagship. So I wouldn't say it's pricing is too bad.

Ok cool. Cheers for the info. I shall pass it on to my friend and he can make his own mind up..

The GM's are fairly popular in Germany for obvious reasons and when you have them running nicely they are great speedos. BUT there are so many settings that most of the ones I've seen drove like poo because they were hopelessly badly set up by the users. There are literally so many settings that people tend to fiddle with them just that little bit too much.
There are some other small things which are fairly annoying as well.
- They sometimes lose their programming for no apparent reason.
- You have to drag your laptop along to races if you want to set it.
- The settings button which also doubles as the switch has to be deactivated or your car will switch itself off coming off big jumps.
- non standard sensor wire plug on the speedo so you always need an adapter
- Never(!) set your throttle travel to over 100% or the speedo will do very strange things.
- It has a fairly large footprint with the capacitor circuit board on the end and fairly high if soldered on top.
- The handheld programmer only works when full moon is out and you are placed squarely at the end of the rainbow ( I've never seen anyone get it to work)
Otherwise they are great

Well, like i said, i've never seen this

True, but getting that way with many b/l ESCs now
- The settings button which also doubles as the switch has to be deactivated or your car will switch itself off coming off big jumps.
Can see your point - but was more an issue with the old spec ones, they use a different button now, and I NEVER use that button as the switch - newer 120's have a normal switch, and my 90 I just plug/unplug
- non standard sensor wire plug on the speedo so you always need an adapter
Or just use the GM sensor wire that has the proper plug on it
- Never(!) set your throttle travel to over 100% or the speedo will do very strange things.
Yeah, but not really a good idea with any ESC
- It has a fairly large footprint with the capacitor circuit board on the end and fairly high if soldered on top.
Fair point, it is narrower than LRP TC spec, but you are dictated as to where the cap board is - on current models. This has been fixed!
- The handheld programmer only works when full moon is out and you are placed squarely at the end of the rainbow ( I've never seen anyone get it to work)I've never ever seen one!!

MattW Didn't mean to slag it off completely. If you know what you're up to it's a real weapon and fairly reliable as well. As to the resetting problem I've seen a couple do it repeatedly albeit mostly on carpet.
My main gripe with them is that they totally overwhelm some people who end up with cars with really shitty throttle characteristics and end up thinking that's the way they're meant to go. We've had so many people turn up at the club with hideous, undriveable cars and in most cases there was a GM speedo installed and the poor bloke going on about power curve this and autostart that and ramp up here and variable timing advance whatnot. Most of the time they were totally surprised that the car went much better with the bog-standard settings.
They are seriously too complicated and way to easy to get completely wrong. The software interface is misleading, badly explained and confusing. Out of memory one of the points which really confused a lot of people was setting the LiPo cutoff point because the interface was intensely intricate and contorted.
I used to run GM speedos in the 90's (HEL3000, Helbing Sport) and they were just as bad. Lots of settings and sweet when you got it right but horrible if you missed a beep when setting it up.
There are far easier speedos out there that run nicely right out of the box which are just about idiot-proof to set up and tune.

Never seen it reset, but we'll agree to disagree on that one :)
I understand what you're saying about the software and settings, there are too many for some people, and very easy for some to get confused.

So we need some Genius Teamdriver who post the esc setups ;)
