Hi, Not raced touring cars since 2005 but they use the same electrics you would use in the buggys. The classes are spilt by motor windings 17.5, 13.5 10.5 (pro stock) and mod. Looks like 13.5 is the most popular going by results for local clubs. Going by rcaechat the popular cars are Schumacher and x ray. I last raced with a x ray and that was a better quailty car then the schumacher I had before it. are you going to race indoors or outdoors? if indoors you might want to start with a difff or a spool (fixed diff) in the front until you get used to the car then go to a one way in the front.
The one way will be better but harder to drive but outdoors a one way will be fine.
Xray used to do one way that you could put in a pin and make it a spool
