Until you see they've left in the bloody purple bits too. Still I guess the fact they are willing to consider other colours is a start :p.

SHY 27-01-2010 01:46 PM

Sweet! I'd only wish they'd drop that purple anodizing! It reminds me too much of old Serpent fuel track cars and Mega engines...

And it's kinda gay... :p

I feel like the micro forum has influenced this new Cougar in some way  lol

Arr right so what you’re saying Schumacher have used imperial BBs. That’s not like Schumacher.....

I would put money on it but you still owe me £35 !!!!!!

im saying nothing but double or quits

when I first saw that front bulkhead, I thought this was going to be a 4WD with 2wd buggy levels of front end kickup. seriously, that bulkhead is gigantic! you could just about fit a small differential in there.

that being said, this thing looks properly awesome and if they'd just drop the purple ano in favor of a nice crimson/blood red, it would look absolutely sinister

c0sie 27-01-2010 03:03 PM

Just out of interest...why do 2WD buggies have so much castor in comparison to 4WD buggies?

I don't know for sure, but I would say with the weight balance of a 4WD (forwards) running that much kick-up (not just caster) it would be GTi'ing like a beast! (lifting the inside rear going into the corner)

with a 2WD the weight it much further back so transfering the weight forward into the corner is normally a good thing.

just a little interweb engineer theory of mine

(to do with kick-up not caster - Id assume that extreme caster is a by-product of this)

Your a clever sod Doughty :)
Thanks for the reply :)

I'm just good at justifying my thoughts, they may not be right... :woot:

tony12795 27-01-2010 03:32 PM

Any other thoughts ??

1/10th this year ?

Chris Doughty 27-01-2010 03:45 PM

I'm actually really impressed with the looks of this, I'd say Schumacher have pulled a blinder here.

interested to see where things have ended up inside

bigred5765 27-01-2010 03:49 PM

Doughty for A Team position 4, I say

Chris Doughty 27-01-2010 04:01 PM

tempted to write Schumacher in my signature line for a laugh :woot:

It's a lovely looking car alright. Those front arms give it a really unique look - a bit like the prototype Kyosho RB5 that they ran at the Worlds 2005.
My first guess would have been that the angle allowed the front shocks to sit lower but it's hard to tell if that's the case anyway.

I guess the front bulkhead is so big maybe to contain the steering? or just to make the shock tower a lot smaller / less prone to damage?

mikeyscott 27-01-2010 04:06 PM

I'd love to know what software they use to design it and wheather they use any HPC kit for simulations etc.

I'd say you're bang on the money, it looks to me like the so called constant radius steering is a schuey way to say the steering is 'reversed'. I.e. The pivot is at the front inside the bulkhead and the rack behind. That'd free some space for the servo in front of the pack, and also will make sure the inner wheel doesn't wobble at full lock. Of course it also totally changes the ackermann so I'm curious to see the car in the flesh.

Looks to me like b4 style wheels, so imperial bearing I. The wheels, but most certainly metric everywhere else.

It's called pbb and you can only get it at Schumacher... Because it's not been designed with cad, phil does everything on the drawing board.
