Looks good, belt and chain is nice option...bugger shock collars are going to be bigger:cry: but its better the new one had redesigned shocks as the originals would never cut it now days, looks like a slipper clutch is in the box too!

Think its nice that quite a few parts are different means the originals stand apart when next to each other keeping the true vintage, vintage:thumbs:

I'm ordering one to run belt as my original runs chain,

Price I think thats going to be £350 plus with belt a chain options etc

I'm pretty sure most parts have been designed to be slightly different from vintage, to avoid merchants from selling re-re stuff as "new old stock" for inflated prices. Has been done on Tamiya re-re too, to avoid confusion between vintage and re-re parts.

ReRe Optima

RRP £329.99 but Modelsport selling for £299.

What we really want is a belt driven LWB Optima Mid or Mid Turbo!

They nailed the boxart, no tyre lettering painted in haha, but it looks great!

There would be a shorter list of what parts are the same. The front gearbox moulding, servo saver, chain guides, C hubs and bumper look to be the only parts that have not been changed. At least it will be very easy to spot the new parts.

So will the gears from the re-release fit the original Optima/Ultima gearbox? Will make a useful modernisation for my Ultima.......

I asked Akira this question, he said nope won't fit.

If you ask me, I think an Ultima could come next....

I'm another one who'd love to see a rere of the LWB Optima Mid next.

Yokomo need to do an 870C to compete .

Seeing the holes on the front arms, I feel that the Optima Mid re-re could be for real

The original Optima also had one hole on the front arms, though the shocks are mounted on the C-hubs. 2 holes could be a sign, or just done to give the option to increase ground clearance, as I understand the shock towers are a little taller than on the classic Optima. Also, the holes that are used to mount the small eyelets, for the front stabilizer, are not present. There are holes, but these are very close to the inner hinge, and would be totally unsuitable for attaching a stabilizer bar.

Not sure about what you say... Please check the pic attached :)

OptimaFan 13-02-2016 07:21 AM

Yeah, exactly that on the pic. Must have mixed it up in my mind with the rear arms, where the Mid has 3 holes for the shocks, on the arms. On the front there are also 3, but I guess I counted the one on the hub as well. ;-)

Seen as i wasnt born when the original optima came out, how does one drive seen as you have the motor sticking out the back, id have thought it would feel a little like a rear motor 2wd with more grip steering. I will say I like the look of the car tho if I ever look for a 4wd this might be a contender. I like the older body style buggys had over the newer shapes, its why im running my rc 10worlds re-re a lot more now than my b5m.
