How do you find the flight characteristics of the 450 versus the 550?
I've still to build my 550 - can't decide on how best to proceed given the deals around!

To be honest you seem like you like to tinker about and part of the fun is seeing something that you have built( and knowing you like to customise ) in the air. Id just transfer the kk2 over and have a quick fly and then if you like it transfer thr gimbal over.

Winner winner he he.

Col - you kind of second guessed me!
I ordered another KK2 yesterday with a view to just getting the 550 in the air and seeing if I like it before spending any big bucks :)

Still mulling the 550 Naza / Zenmuse deal over - anyone want to buy a Zenmuse gimbal - Jimmy if you are out there you must need another Gimbal :)

550 seems more stable, mainly when there is a breeze. Also has the added peace of mind that if a prop or motor goes it will still fly! Gimbals and gopro's are expensive!

I've just ordered some 3s lipos (a-spec nano's) to experiment with 10" props.
The lipos are 3s 4500mah, weight- 280grams! Gonna have two in parallel, should achieve 15 mins flight time with my 550 weighing in at 2.4kg (inc lipos).

At the min I run 4s 5000mah with graupner 9x5 and get 8mins (still 2.4kg)
Difference being 9000mah against 5000mah with the same total weight.

Anyway, I'm babbling!

Just tried a 4S on the 450.
Mine weighs approx 1.8kg
Far too much power - it actually felt / sounded like the props slipped on power - it nearly fell out of the sky :(
Can't tighten them any more..

Re 550 - cheers for info :)

Will it? I didn't think it would still fly. Tested it?

Re Gimbals.

I have ordered a DJI bundle - so if anyone is genuinely interested in either the Tarot Gimbal or the DJI Zenmuse H3 2D - drop me a PM.

I'm certainly not keeping both, so one has to go.

Also - if anyone is interested in a BNIB - DJI 450 ARTF kit, drop me a PM :)

Ideally that would work out well :)

I was going to go Naza Lite - but the one thing that this hobby has taught me, is that buying decent stuff means you only need to buy once!
Also - I wanted the app support which is not available on the Lite. Tempted to keep the Zenmuse - but i'm seriously impressed with the Tarot too!

jimbo_468 30-09-2013 10:14 AM

Hi, where did you get your tarot from?

Seriously thinking of getting one.

cheers, jim.

andys 01-10-2013 09:33 PM

Bought my Tarot from Banggood.

Took about a month to arrive.

Has anyone tried the budget gimbals from China etc?

somethig like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brushless-...vip=true&rt=nc

northernmonkey 08-10-2013 03:45 PM

it doesnt come with a control board! these usually cost around £50-£70 for a decent one.
Cant gor far wrong with the tarot gimbal (this includes control board) can be had for £120ish.

andys 08-10-2013 04:46 PM

My Zenmuse will probably be up for sale soon?
BNIB - unopened..... the temptation to use it is great - but i'm resisting in case I sell it.

Boost 08-10-2013 09:48 PM

What sort of price would that be going for?

Any update on that Gimbal Boost?

Quite a few cheap ones on eBay now for around £60 :)

Finished my mega cheap 2 servo gimbal. Looks like it works ok when I'm holding the copter. Hopefully I can give it a test over the weekend.
