Just typed this out for the Schumacher Website so figured I would post it here too to help you guys. Only thing I might change is the rear shock oil back to 20wt (ive ran that all year) depending on the size of the jumps.

Hiya am I right in thinking this is for the NiMh version Si. Any tips for the Lipo version mate.
|
Im gonna start with this on my lipo.
Si |
Thanks for that . Just got to build it now

1 lipo is roughly 150 - 200g lighter than a 6cell sub c pack so obviously the car would run higher... |
Here are Cat SX Setup Sheet, Manual and so on!
Cat SX (link) Mainly data from Schumacher but sorted differently, with more details and on one single page. Hope that 'll grow and can help everyone! Jimmy, if not a appropriate, remove the reply! |
Shock Length
I have noticed the overall shock length is noted on the setup sheets! How is the length adjusted? Spacers or via the shock cups?
Thanks again.... |

One last question do you set the shock up with any rebound ? |
Just fill as normal.. dont set any rebound either :)
|
James is right. Fill as normal and bleed as normal. I normally have around 3mm rebound on each shock.

Just a thought , has there been any issues with steering servos not being protected by a servo saver?
|
Servo Saver??
This is a good point, which was over-looked. Any info on the servo would be appreciated.
|
XX4 and Pred never had them, if your servo is metal geared and decent you won't need one. I prefere not to have one personally as it can make the steering feel detatched.
|
Servo savers
Thanks again for the reply! Do the team drivers have any comments i.e. any blown servos or are they using servo savers. I am a little worried as I am used to using Servo Savers....
|
Never ran a servo saver and never had any issues in all the testing i've done. Dont worry.

Servo-Saver
Thanks again Si!!
One other question... I race on hard, dirt tracks, with loose to medium traction. Should I use your dirt set-up and not build the car with the kit set-up. Thanks again for all the great help. |

Yeah, will be much bettrer than the build setup! Si |
Diaphragm - Centre cut out and removed
what is this part and where do you cut :( |
The diaphragm is the rubber seal you put inside the shock. Its placed inside the shock top. I cut the centre out, up to the edge of the rim and remove it. You need to then put the outer rim back inside the shock top otherwise you will leak oil from the bleed hole in the shock top.

posted twice :)

Set-up for the Dirt (with LIPO)
Si,
Could suggest a set-up for the dirt, with a LIPO pack? Seeing as it is lighter, one would probably only need to adjust the shock collars for the ride height? Would lighter oils also be necessary? What has your testing revealed? Thanks again. |
We run on 8th scale buggy tracks so our cars are consistently jumping 20-30 feet in the air and I have the LiPo version running 35wt in the rear and 40wt in the front. I haven't run it yet but I will tonight and I've seen the side to side weight bias is very nice with the LiPo.
Also last weekend I was running 35wt front and rear and it was a bit to soft in the front Quote:

i will try and post a set-up for "american style" tracks.........we use losi pink tapers ground down to slicks
car looks amazing!!!! has anyone tried losi or ae wheels in the rear???? |
I've not tried yet, but would normal hex's fit on it?
I've got a cart load of HB wheels, so wondered if they'd fit? |
last night i put hexes from b44 on the front
jconcepts wheels bolt right up..........man this looks killer |
Here is the setup i finished up on at Worksop.
Front - Track Washers - 1mm front and back Roll Bar - No Shock Position Mount - Middle Shock Position Wishbone - Middle Front Rake - 10 Degrees Washers - 3mm Front Link Bracket - 43mm Washers on Hub - 0 Rear - Wheel Base - Short Toe In - 3mm Rear, .5mm front = 3.25 degrees Anti Squat Washers - 2mm Rear, 1mm Front = 1.3 degrees Rear Link Bracket - 37.5mm Washers - 4mm Shock Position Mount - Middle Shock Position Wishbone - Inside Hub Postion - Middle Roll Bar - No Shocks Front - 30wt on 3 Holes Schumacher Red Springs (Old) Diaphragm - Centre cut out and removed Ride Height – Drive shafts level Rear - 25wt on 3 Holes Schumacher Yellow Springs (New) Diaphragm - Centre cut out and removed Ride Height – Drive shafts level. Transmission- Rear Diff Height - Low Front Diff Height - Low Layshaft Pulley - Pin Through Front Drive – One Way Gearing - 83 x 24 on Speed Passion 5.5 Internal Ratio - 36 Tooth Pulley Thanks Si |
Thanks for the setup Si but I have a few questions:-
What is the 36T pulley mentioned in the internal ratio section? I only see a 34T pulley being the largest size to get the 2.8 internal ratio. Do you run the ackerman bar with 8mm between the ball cups as per the manual? Also the front link bracket you say is 43mm I presume this could be a prototype part as according to the Turnbuckle length guide this is now supplied as U3442 38.5mm rather than 43mm as stated in the manual. The Worksop report says you ran the 6.5 motor, did you change to the 5.5 for the final? |
What difference does it make by running the height of the diffs low or high?
|
Looking for a set up for indoor shiny wood surface.
|
I can recommend the setup from above with Schumacher mini pins and medium foams. I ran this setup on Friday which was a mixture of polished floor and some carpet and it ran very well, much better than my initial setup that I ran which was waaaay off
|
Is Mossy's setup from above with Lipo or NIMH and if with Lipo was there any weight added? :eh?:
My car is 1602gr with lipo and no added weight and to be honest it seems just fine and dandy but would still be interesting to know :) |
Lipo, no weight added.

I finally found a Freeware program that allows to open, edit and save PDF's.
Only downside is that it will make some mistakes in the graphics( At the Cat SX setup it won't show the blue parts)so you will have to edit a prefilled setup to know what you are writing. Opened in Adobe reader everything is then shown in full beauty. Link:http://www.cib.de/deutsch/products/p...-speichern.asp Cruise. |
Thanks Si
