Ditto. Is that B4 hubs you got on as the wheel nuts look familiar

steve_haskins 24-06-2012 11:50 AM

Yes
donor car is a tc02c which is standard apart from b4 hubs, I wanted to stick with standard wheel fitment

ben44 24-06-2012 11:54 AM

Very nice.
I hope we will have more information about the price.
You used all the time the black spring on the rear?

Tom3012 24-06-2012 01:15 PM

Very nice! Any idea on price yet?

steve_haskins 24-06-2012 02:00 PM

price not been finalized yet
should be competative though

price will include everything you need including shell and undertray, chassis carbon bits alloy suspension holders and all the screws and spacers reqired

welshmerlin 24-06-2012 05:01 PM

Did you do the shell Steve?

steve_haskins 24-06-2012 05:18 PM

Yes
It was done from scratch, for the chassis
I changed it a few times the last change was to make the cab more upright which I think helps with the looks

adon30 24-06-2012 06:22 PM

Get it painted Steve and hopefully we'll see it Thursday!!

Looking good.

I like steve have been lucky enough to have one of the pre production conversion kits,i ran mine for the first time today and its superb, the car feels so planted and so easy to drive.really pleased with its first outing.

Big thanks to the akula guys for the opportunity

Dandare 24-06-2012 08:11 PM

Looks promising, side shot of the shell looks a bit Vega'esque.

Look forward to the competetive pricing compared to the other chassis/conversions out there :woot:

Do you know how much it weighs in relation to the plastic it replaces ? Also is there any space allowance to run slightly taller saddles ?

welshmerlin 24-06-2012 08:11 PM

Looks really good Steve

The RRP for the kit will be £175. The kit will come with everything you need to fit it to the car - so all screws, posts, washers, fixings, shell, undertray, etc.

As for the lips - the battery strap posts are 25mm high, so the kit should accept pretty much every pack on the BRCA list.

metalmickey0 24-06-2012 09:54 PM

Whats with the big piece of lexan bolted to the front shock tower:confused:

PaulUpton 24-06-2012 10:12 PM

My car ready to run (with the prototype chassis) was 1604g but I have all the alloy bits and lots of bling :)

In the process of putting the pre production one together to run next week

Chalkie 24-06-2012 10:16 PM

I've run mine a few weeks now and it really is an improvement on the standard car, more stable and less understeer under power, it really is a nice car to drive now.

university_dave 25-06-2012 07:17 AM

The plastic chassis (including front and rear t-pieces) comes in at 145.4g, the aluminium chassis is 183.1g.

Karting 25-06-2012 09:47 AM

I noticed both cars have the low profile servo, I run a x2c but with a normal sized servo, will i still be able to fit my electrics in without buying new stuff? Also i notice the battery brace is in a different place to the x2c and the posts take up some room which could be used for electrics.

However it is nice to see someone working with ansmann stuff :)

jasonrcb 25-06-2012 10:02 AM

Depending on your electrics you should be able to get away with a std size servo, although it may be a tight squeeze, the battery post layout is like that so it allows for the lipo in std position or turned sideways so they come further down the chassis, the more forward position gives you a little more front end but the car doesn't need anymore.

Im considering building another AKX2 with the lipo in the other configuration so i have the option of the 2 layouts,

PaulUpton 25-06-2012 10:18 AM

The liPos the other way is a nice tuning aid and works well in high grip conditions.

If you plan on running the lipos this way you really need a slimline servo.

I managed to get my speed passion and futuba receiver in the space between slimline servo and the posts. Not so much luck with the Orion r10 though so the speedo is between the two posts then receiver and servo

brooksy 25-06-2012 02:04 PM

Hi Steve. Did someone run one of the cars at the mid east regional at West Bridgford a couple of weeks ago?.

PaulUpton 25-06-2012 02:10 PM

losichris 25-06-2012 07:22 PM

where will it be available when released?

PaulUpton 25-06-2012 07:27 PM

either the ansmann x2c or team c tc02 both versions are the same

will be available through akula racing stockists listed on the website www.akularacing.co.uk

Tom3012 25-06-2012 07:41 PM

Or I'm guessing you could use a mad monkey? Although you'd need shocks and bearings

yep but id buy the pro versions, as it comes with all the bits you need from the start

steve_haskins 25-06-2012 07:47 PM

As Jason says you will be ok servo wize with std size servos mine a low profile purely because it's all I have,
I have as sanwa reciever and a nosram esc in mine and there's plenty of room if you run the cells as shown in the 2 cars

Yep, that was the original fit & finish prototype. Went well given the fact I was driving it. I'll be running one of the pre-production kits at Grantham tomorrow night.

brooksy 25-06-2012 08:03 PM

From what I was watching Dave it was going better than well!!!. One of the best cars there on the day. Well balanced, smooth and fast.

If I hadn't bought a 210 a few months ago I would be seriously looking at getting one of these conversions for my x2c.

PaulUpton 25-06-2012 08:07 PM

sell the 210 and get the convertion.....simples

brooksy 25-06-2012 11:36 PM

Loving the 210 too much at the moment:wub.

It's going really well outdoors but I've yet to run it indoors so you never know!!!.

Loving the colour and the neat little fan blade guard

fastinfastout 26-06-2012 02:47 PM

why

I'm having trouble understanding........

why the need for a conversion?

the standard x2c is great

I half agree, on the one hand it's quite expensive given you'll already have a mid car to start with, which can have weight added/distributed to replicate the extra 40 or so grams of the ally chassis adds. Wheres if you run a B4.1, RB5 etc & want mid you only have two choices, buy a different car or get a mid conversion ie, C4.1, Vega.. you have to spend the money one way or another.

On the other hand, i guess if you're looking for strong, responsive chassis with little/no flex & you really want to stick with the brand (& not just buy a SV2, dex210..) & sell your current TC02C/X2C, then it looks a very nice bit of kit indeedy.

I'll have a job to convince myself that given my x2c is already mid, & that i haven't broken the standard chassis yet, or that i can add weight under the batteries or servo to mimic the low postioned weight, & i'm willing to put up with the flex, that i could justify the full £175RRP. (unless it's actually going to be cheaper, lol)
