Suitable car for kids.
 

so the kids like to watch me tinker with the car aswell as joining me watching the youtube vids now n then and now they want a car each for Christmas. If I was to get them one anyone suggest something suitable please. Don't fancy the toy type ones as if it breaks that's usually that whereas with something like a rtr at least its fixable.

don't want anything that's super fast as they are only 4 and 6yrs old unless the motor can be turned down, but not sure if its poss with rtr cars as unsure of the kit capabilities they are supplied with.

You can pick up a brushed short course truck pretty cheaply and they can take a bit of hammer.
I converted a nitro truggy to brushless for my 7yo and she loves it (well I told the mrs it was for the kids):thumbsup: I broke it before she did

ha ha nice one. I was thinking poss of a sct for them, or maybe a sct and a buggy ao they can swap, mind you prob just get them same so no arguing starts lol

the other thing is what will I need to make sure both cars can run at same time when playing together?

Great fun, quick nippy & nothing has broken. SCT body helps as there is nothing sticking out waiting to break if it rolls etc.

Go for a Losi 22, the most solid RC car ever built and can be bought fairly cheap now, perfect learners car but as they progress just tweak the car until they are quicker than you :woot::woot::woot:

B4.1 rtr or losi 22 rtr
Both can be turned down the losi radio gear is a little better but parts will be easier to get for the b4.1
Also Durango rtr is good as well

My sons team c jekyll has taken some hammer and comes as a rtr (can be picked up for £70 on the bay).

As you have a yokomo bmax2 already, then why not pick up a couple more second hand ones? You'll have shared spares parts and they are very solid, also you can recycle your worn wheels and tyres. Plus they can race them when they get a bit of practice.

Plus you can move the radio gear and motor into a chassis like the bmax2 when they are ready to race. :thumbsup:

been watching a fair bit of sct racing lately for my fix lol needless to say the kids like to watch for the pink or orange cars, not happy if there aren't any lol - anyway prob thinking along the sct route for them for starters - they do like the Durango sct as they have seen it, as well as the ones from modelsport but they liked the 'look' of the Durango better, kids for you eh lol - will see how things go and decide a bit nearer the time - don't want to commit to anything just yet only to find that as Christmas approaches there is a special offer on for the Christmas period

no pal I haven't but i think I would prefer a more local shop, where I can call in should there be an issue with the cars. Chances are there shouldn't be but just in case, and really can't be arsed with the hassle of having to post stuff back if there is a problem. A shop I can drive to which I would prefer, bit appreciate the info pal :)

They come as a kit or built but not RTR. I grabbed a motor, speedo and lipo from Hobbyking and a cheap wheel tranny and he loves it.

He built it himself with only minimal help from me and enjoys bashing it around. He doesn't have the control for racing yet but its coming. He puts some wheels on the decking and drives round them.

Anyway they are cheap as chips and being really durable makes it ideal for any young child, or at least that's my experience of it.

And he gets round the track smoother and quicker than you Andy :p

i actually just got this for myself..... mainly because touring cars are more my thing and i wanted something i could crash around and not worry. i stuffed a 10.5t brushless in it and better shocks and it surprisingly goes well.... its the same car as the maverick buggy and spares are readily available. also, the touring car and truggy are pretty much the same chassis and gear diffs etc.

these are what out club uses as loaners for beginners that have never had ago before and they take serious stick and hardly if ever break, the arms and hubs etc flex a bit so have some give in them. £65 delivered is a total bargain!!

hobbyking are great as you can get a brushless esc, motor , 3 4000mah zippy lipos and a charger for £100 meaning your good to go for £165 .

my daughter has the touring car version, bashes it around as shes just started and she loves it...it hasn't broke yet!!

the cars are heavy but to be honest im sure a child/beginner wont be bothered! :D
