Axle Pins on 501x

Those of you with 501's are probably familiar with the axle pins in the front hex adapters, and in the rear as well. I find them just too loose!

Last weekend I had a wheelnut come loose (my bad) but when the wheel came off, i lost the pin and hex adapter, never to be seen again! I've sourced spares, but has anyone found a rollpin which will fit in place of the regular pins? I'm sick of them falling out while working on the car!

Suggestions?

I had exactly the same problem twice! Myself and others at our club who run the original alloy wheel nuts have found the nuts to be innadequate.I too lost 2 of these drive pins and have replaced them with some Schumacher items I had in my spares box.Still metric size but a little longer.Ditch the alloy nuts and go back to the steel more reliable ones I say.

I used the duratrax split roll pins and crimped them slightly tighter so you can get them out, this is the same idea as on the RC10 B4 rear split pins and dont come out.

RW make some suitable metric ones too.

I'm not sure if they're the right size or not but CML do some which have small grooves in the centre of the pin with rubber O rings in the grooves, to hold the pin in place. I've not tried using them yet, so as I said I don't know if they're the rgiht size. If I can find some I'll try them and if they work I'll post here with the part number. :)
