Any one else have trouble with new (ish ) tyres?

I've been running in a new set for 5 weeks of practice they are nearly worn out but still haven't come good.

I want to race not play a tyre lottery.

Exactly the same boat as you James with the current set. About 5 weeks in and they are 50% worn in / out, but are producing very little grip. Don't know if we got a bad batch or what really. I know Elliott was having problems as well.

I guess the only answer is to mount up a fresh set and start the bedding in process all over again :cry:

Think we might have coped a set of grellows, or the more recently popular grillvers!!!

They're wearing consistently, and seem to have forward bite, but just lack side bite. One minute understeer, one minute oversteer.

Mind you the floor last night was deffo on the slick side, and having a duff front driveshaft that I only discovered prior to round 3 probably didn't help my evening.

I know Elliott was having problems as well.

As we tried nearly before!
To go to a tyre that may not be as fast but will work straight from the packet and when worn out we start again.
Both mini pins and minispikes yellow work from new (ive tried both) no not as fast but this not want we are trying to achive.
All we need to do is ban the current tyre then all in the same boat and stop this nonsense with who's on a prime set of tyres trying to plan endless good tyres or as above posts this may not happen.

Maybe running a more popular tyre in yellow will mean that we get what we want a true yellow compound talking with Les and the amount of demand for the current crap is low.

Wheeeyy! nice to know I'm not the only one fed up with Schumacher's latest multi compound full spikes! I always end up with grellows, and more recently had a set of grillvers! :woot:

Ah thats not good news as I'm running out of my part worn sets now. :(

Im up for trying a new tyre out, mini spike or mini pin, we can use them on carpet too :thumbsup:

I think we should step away from the mini pin mini spike, due to a high wear rate. Maybee look at the dBoot multibyte, was massivly impressed with this tyre outside with fantasic wear rate 20 runs on grass / dirt.

And the compound is printed on the sidewall (no cheating!!)

Weren't Schumacher meant to be releasing a white compound?

Does seem that the quality has decreased somewhat of late, and as Neil says unless you have a prime set you're just going to be way off the pace.

Not tried mini spikes or pins myself. Willing to try the dBoots for a couple of weeks but I do recall looking at Spud's and they seemed very spongy.

Haven't Losi or Ballistic Buggy got anything that would work?

I'll have a word with my old mate Darren @ DMS Racing and see what he can offer from the ballistic range??

I'll mount them on Rango rims so a few of us can try them out, ie me, Neil, James, Ed and anyone else with a Rango.....

Think the Rango wheels fit the B44 as well?

What dBoots would be better to try indoors? The Multibyte or the Terrabyte? I'm guessing the B compound would be better than the A as it's softer?

Don't keep it to yourself Niggs - if there's news spill the beans!

Saves me spending £'s on trying different sets of tyres that may not work if I know there's something in the pipeline that will!

the new white compound from ballistic buggy has been tried and i think they do not work and the wear rate is going to be high.
d-booots have tried and the wear rate is high, the set we tried would only be good for 1 meeting.
not really sure on this one as ed has tried them all and we keep going back to the yellow spikes

Hog, yes rango wheels fit the B44 fine ( I have used them on my 44 ).

I have just sent DMS a note and will give you feedback on his suggestions.

I have some spare rims and inserts so if it goes ahead we can try them on Wed.

James get what your saying but if a compound is yellow whatever the spike would it not wearat the same rate!
minipins and spikes work from new how many weeks and how much do we take off a full spike before it's any good, and mine last about 5/6 weeks and thats it, thats if your lucky to get it to work as we are all finding at the moment.
Nath great if schuey are making a new compound but if it's softer they are not going to last either.

I also feel the racing needs to be slowed down 10sec laps gives no one a chance of good racing as one mistake your a lap down, maybe a slower tyre that everyone can run without tweaking or thrashing outside before it's good will make things better.

James/Les what compound did you use? for the D boots.
just looked on there website there saying use the terrabyte in a compound a, they are also cheaper than Shuey tyres.
