2wd Regional Ledbury

Right folks Round 2 of the regional series is this coming sunday.

We will be running an astro track layout for this event and hoping to create something that everyone will enjoy.

Best tyre options is ballistic greens in the wet or yellow mini spike for dry weather, our astro is fairly high grip so am sure you will all enjoy it.

Anyone is welcome to camp the night before, just drop me a PM if you would like to camp.

Gates open from 7am.

Booking in at 8am

There is a water tap on the entrance to the farm by the main building if anyone needs to use this.

Any questions feel free to ask.

The track is also sign posted so you shouldnt have a problem finding us.

Any more details visit www.ledburymodelcarclub.moonfruit.com

Right folks thanks to the help of Ledbury members and Roger and co we now have the layout complete for sundays meeting.

There is only a couple of puddles in the bomb hole so we have designed around this so even if we have rain all week and weekend the track is good to race on.

For lap times guys I think you will be looking at a 30second lap around abouts.

looking forward to sunday now

Hello,

Excuse my ignorance if this is a daft question but will there be anybody there on Sunday selling tyres etc as I have had time to sort out tyres for the meeting?

Wes

Dan Holmes of Pitside fame is booked in so there should be tyres in his shop

tdi250 26-04-2012 08:58 AM

Thanks

Wes

Track is really good, great balance of fast and slower sections with lots of technical bits thrown in. Air time is sensible and most of the features have a risk-&-reward bias. I am really looking forward to it :)

Track is at least 2.5m all round as per the rules & Nathan & helpers went to great lengths to make sure everything else was as good as it can be (marshal points, line of sight from the rostrum, being able to see / judge landing points especially, track marking lashings etc etc.).

I know some people have concerns about access to the track, especially in wet conditions. It was howling down when I got there last night & again when I left and I had no trouble getting on or off site with my car, neither did any of the others. Care will be required on the drive to the track if you run a VERY low car as the driveway has potholed a bit but I can't see it being a problem for any of the vehicles I normally see parked up at meetings.

The track surface at Ledbury is hardly effected by the rain and as Nathan has already said the only feature that occassionally pools is excluded from this layout so there is no need to have any fear that weather may stop play.

Last point ... be warned that the scrutineer is VERY strict so make sure your all legal before you go ;)

tdi250 26-04-2012 12:18 PM

Talking about being legal.....

Does anyone know if I will struggle to get my mad rat in the box? As i've read others having issues at times.

Wes

Best to ask the question in the Ansmann section. I believe (not sure) that the front stub axles need to be ground down a touch. We'll help you if needs be, best to check as soon as the kit is set up and you wouldn't be stopped from practicing (if I understand the rules) so there is plenty of time to get it sorted.

Alex Springer will be there on the day (Ansmann team leader)

I think we are going to get VERY wet on Sunday. Nathan - is there a way of letting people know if you have to cancel? Do you expect we will be able to get on and off the field given the amount of rain we are having?

The forcast for Sunday is twice the amount of rain we've had this morning and that's just overnight before we get there and it will continue all day. It is also going to be quite windy.
If someone can check what conditions are like now and assess it because if it is not useable now there is no chance on Sunday.
As much as I want to race at Ledbury I don't want to have to do the trip only to find out it has been cancelled on the morning.

+1.

There's a club meeting at Coventry on Sunday so if we know in advance that Ledbury is unusable we can make other plans.

The track drains very well, the only feature that might have been an issue has been avoided in the layout.

The car parking area "might" get a little muddy BUT should NOT be a problem so long as people drive sensibly (no big wheel-spins else you can dig yourself out ;) ).

I personally see that there is no reason to cancel this meeting BUT if it does need to be I am sure Nathan will let us know.
Might take a spin out there tomorrow evening and have a look if Nathan can't do this.

Pownabown 27-04-2012 01:37 PM

Weve not had any rain today and so far the track and field is bone dry.

I cant see as we would need to cancel.
The track will hold up no problem and in Ledbury area we dont seem to get much rain compared with other areas so i think everything is good to go.

Also Just checked weather forecast and no rain due today or tomorrow here but slight showers in the afternoon on sunday so I wouldnt worry
