Gents
Can you measure overall length of your shocks please, or even better dimension b on the setup sheet ?

thanks

spud

GRIFF55 04-12-2010 05:10 PM

Sorry for the late reply.
Measurement B on sheet is 18mm front and 26mm rear when the shock is at full length.

There is probably a little more to be found in this set up, especially the gearing. Will be purchasing some 29 to 32 tooth pinions for next time. Suspension worked really well. Most confident I've felt with the car yet. track was damp in the morning, but dried out during the day and griped up.:)

Update 29 April 2012 - Ran at the Castehill ProAm (interclub challenge). Missed A Final by only 3 seconds (bummer). the only changes from the set up sheet are: 32t pinion, Associated front wheels mounted with Losi Blockheads

TRF201, pinion???

hi, just bought myself a used trf201.... on its way across the waters to me now.

I run a 22 at present and have run the cougar etc.

question....

running a 10.5t GM, with r10 pro esc, with turbo and timing etc.

what pinion would you recommend on the kit spur gear.

For smaller tracks(shrccc) with lots of turns and the also the faster sweeping tracks(torch/stotfold)

not run a tamiya as yet so just need an idea of where to start....

cheers muchly. :)

I run a 4600kV motor (don't know how many turns it is) with 79T spur and 23T pinion - the temperatures seem good in this config for both ESC and motor, though I think I could run it with a slightly bigger pinion. For the club track (clay with a reasonably short straight) it works very well imo. Here is a video of the track:

For the longer tracks like Kampenhout and Arendonk (both Astroturf, Arendonk has a humongous straight) it lacks some top speed - I could solve that with the gearing, but I guess a quicker motor would be better (hence why I bought a 5200kV motor).

Kampenhout:

Arendonk:

What I'd recommend you to do in the long term though is to find a gear ratio that works for you with the kit spur and then get a smaller spur and pinion so the motor is further forward. It's visible in Lee Martin's (amongst others) setups for astroturf, and though my car felt good without it, I can imagine on dry astroturf it would help get the car to perform that little bit better :)

What does "rear brace shared" mean?

Origineelreclamebord 07-04-2014 10:11 AM

I think it says shaved... so it suggests some material has been taken off the rear brace... It remains a bit open to interpretation what rear brace it is, as there are several bracing constructions on the rear, but I think the driver means the RR/rearmost suspension hanger.
