1/18th at the DMCC

Well I think it is time to get this started

This would Make a great starter class for the club as it keeps growing.
Let us know what you have or would like to see running

Associated rc18
Charisma gt14b
Ftx blaze

There is a large size difference with the rc18 and the gt14b ( the larger of the two)

Stock motor or brushless

Who would be interested in getting one to run

Let us know

18th

Should be Dave but the idea at the moment would be to steer the newer drivers towards the 1/18 th ( Lrp,rc18,blaze etc) the more experienced guys are going 1/16th (Losi, carisma& Schumacher)But nothing fixed so run what you got for this year and sort classes out for next year depending on what drivers want.
Bring him down with you as we have a few he could try at the track before buying one. Mark drove the carisma and had it within 1.5 secs of his 2wd time!

hi lads , we have been racing micros here in galway for about 2 years now , mostly rc18's , caster , and ftx blaze. we've recently added a couple of carismas too . do ye have a dedicated micro class running at the moment or what ? might organise a few of us to come up to yours some sunday for a run :woot:

The Doktor 15-07-2013 10:13 PM

We don't have a micro class up and running. Though theres a few members with them. Its just a matter of putting transponders in the cars and running a heats.

You are very welcome to come down to the track and have a run. We are also there weds evenings.

Im gonna get one myself... they look fun

coppercat 05-10-2013 07:01 AM

hiya , would it suit you guys if a few of us came up from galway to race our wee buggies some time this month was thinking maybe the 20th ? looking like there will be about 6 of us making the trip and we should have a couple of spare cars with us if anyone wants to join in ! not sure how ye run your heats/finals what we normally run is 5min heats and 10min finals , we are all using mylaps transponders ,i presume they will work with your timing gear ? looking forward to a road trip

What buggys do you race & what tyres etc as we have a few here ie RC18B X a few , LRP shark, Carisma GTB etc ??

coppercat 05-10-2013 08:23 PM

we race mix of cars at the moment , rc18 , mini inferno , caster f18 , maverick atom , i have been racing an ftx blaze for a good while and have just recently got a carisma gtb . as for tyres because we race on a wood floor which has limited grip (to say the least ) there are not many tyres that work well some of the best we have found are losi mini step pins for the rc18 , the standard kyosho mini pins for the mini inferno work really well on everything else still testing tyres on the gtb at the min although the kit tyres are not bad at all , white compound schumacher rally blocks are next on my list to try.

Great to see the 1/18th guys at the DMCC today. Hope it was worth the drive over!

I think ill have to get me one of those! they looked great going round:thumbsup:

kartstuffer 20-10-2013 07:37 PM

Yes good to watch them going round, I think we now see where the class split is ie. 1/16th + 1/18th and then the carisma on its own with any other 1/14ths that turn up.
What do you guys think ? hope you all enjoyed your days racing.
I think Mick will be ordering a few Carismas.

coppercat 20-10-2013 07:43 PM

Thanks a mill for having us today lads , we really enjoyed the day and we'll be back for sure  there were lads googling 2wd's in the car on the way home !

MiCk B. 20-10-2013 08:47 PM

Glad that you all enjoyed the day.

Was a bit strange running the buggy and the Carisma, big size difference between them on the track.

But good fun.

MiCk B. :-)

Hi Lads,

It was great to see the Galway gang today, I had to go early so only had a quick chat with some of the group.

The 'mini' off-road buggies looked great going around and were well able to handle the track

Hopefully a mini buggy racing class will start and maybe some of the Galway mini drivers might take the leap into the bigger class :woot::woot:

mini buggies

a big thank you to the lads from galway for getting me up and running with a mini buggy, it was great fun and i hope to have one ready soon ! hope you all enjoyed the day, see you again soon. we should look at using a standard motor so we can even things up more, ( a bit like the old ministocks) if the class is to work then everyone will be in with a chance, it would be more fun and we would get bigger grids....just an idea

kartstuffer 21-10-2013 08:40 PM

Lucys car was a bog std (apart from a 1600mah lipo)RC 18B-1, basic model with fixed link arms etc and a brushed motor, she didnt do too bad ;););)
