KF with shocks on the rear.

I was under the impression that the rear shocks were fitted to the rear of the arms if the track was damp/wet. At the first round of the winter series at Silverstone the top guys were running the rears this way, why is this, does it suit both high and low grip track?

We was indoors on medium grip carpet at the weekend and the majority was rear mounted shocks, i have tried it with front mount shocks, kit layout felt safer, but preferred rear mount shocks with shorty and low grip chassis,

I do like a safe car, but wouldn't mind giving this ago just to see. What springs, pistons and oil do you use, I may give it ago :)

Ayup mate,

Think the latest setups are on the schuey site now, including the rear shock ones...

Quite a few of the A team boys were at Stone last night and V quick, certainly Nathan Waters car had shocks on the rear and looked dialled... (Not sure about what Tom or the others were running)

Personally I'm back on std layout now, but with the ally chassis.. Had to run some worn tyres to try to get the back end to move around a bit more it was so locked in... :D

I ran it shorty and rear at the last winter series... still can't decide which one I prefer

Morning fella.

I'm just wonder what sort of difference it makes, I'll have a look schuey's site and see what different in the set ups :D

I'm running the Ali chassis with the trans to the rear and shorty and really like it, just thought I would have a try of something else ;)

Cheers

It's all about weight distribution and finding grip

Read this guys article sums it up well.

Only drawback running shocks on the rear is shocks are more prone to collision damage. Nice and protected mounted on the front.

Also many use the sv2 rear arms too.

The SV2 arms seem to make the drive shafts have quite an angle on them, is this a problem?

For Silverstone fit them reversed, this lengthens wheelbase and straightens out the drive shaft angle, and gives options for fine tuning by moving the spacers inboard and outboard.

On really low grip you can run the wishbones the normal way round to shorten wheelbase and throw weight rearward.

Thanks for the tip, can you use the sv arms reversed with the shocks still in forward position?

Yep.
In fact that's how my car is now and how I prefer it most of the time at Silverstone.
