Sv2 will not brake in straight line
 

I'm suffering with my car squirming to the left under hard braking, is there anything on the car I should check to combat this? Diff? Chassis tweak etc or is it most likely the brake setting being too powerful for a 2wd car? I'm using 87.5% brakes on my Orion R10 ESC.


Any help would be great.

Shock imbalance (different rebound or binding of the shaft)
Hinge pins binding or bent, bearing in the diff/outdrives/hubs on its way out.
Over tightened rear wheel (squeezing the bearings)
Have you left out any spacers in the hubs (between bearings)?

Basically anything that can cause one side to be "draggier" than the other!
(i had a bent shock shaft causing a similar issue)

BTW, even imbalances at the front could cause the rear to step out/squirm.

Hey Chris, you know with camber change through shock travel, different amounts of tyre will be gripping to the track even if both sides are equal on the bench, its just the nature of off-road. So when you brake, even if all things perfect, you'll always have the effect of load on suspension from an uneven race surface effecting position of shock, camber on wheels etc etc... less so indoors.

Best thing to do, try and have it braking in a straight[enough] line on your kitchen lino, then thats the best it will be. Then keep brakes as they are, but use them less. Atleast they'll still be strong to avoid a marshalls foot or a pile up if there is one to avoid.

I am on my second chassis, try holding it up in front of the window to get good reflection, mine bent just behind the motor where its machined out.

Thanks for that lads I will take a look later on as I'm giving the car a full strip down this week before the Roger Wood memorial so will check everything out, especially checking over the chassis for tweak as Alan said. The car is fantastic otherwise though, plenty of grip and jumps nicely that's what puzzled me the most.

one cause of this on the cougar is running the diff to loose,

Thanks Carl I will take a look at that also, to be honest though I run my diff fairly tight, I feel the car feels much nicer that way.
