reluctant to buy K2, K3 on the way?
 

Hello all,

I have been running Schuey 4 WD cars for close to 7 years.
My latest one was the K1, awesome car.
But it is reaching the end of its shelf life.
I never bought a K2 because I really liked my K1.
But now I need a new wheeler and I am only looking at Schumacher so the K2 would be the only choice.
Here my problem, it has been around for a few years and I would be really annoyed if I buy a K2 now and the K3 shows up.
Any advice based on past experience?
Schuey tends to update their cars fairly regular....

The Schumacher k2 is an awesome car and work well on many different surface.
As for the k3 or an update to the k2 I think you are probably looking at September onwards

They have just announced a new wide pin rear pivot set for the K2, so I cant see why they would bother if a completely new car was on the horizon?

Personally I think it'll be an update to the K2 This year as they have developed lots of parts for it and maybe a K3 sometime next year

i reckon when we see something it will be a new platform, kd and kc were after x mass so prob same if there is a new 4 wheel drive

Hello All,

I am a chicken and going to overhaul my K1 one more time.
Diffs, belts and pulleys should keep me going till the revised K2 or the new K3 comes out.
I did some reading on old EOS reports and saw a few changes to Michals car.
My hope is now they will bring out a revised K2 in 2017, otherwise I will carry on with my K1 before this problem resurfaces early 2018 :-). Still a good car.

I was talking to Robin at the weekend and he was saying there concentrating on there newer line up. I did ask if that was a K3 or something else and he was obviously as vuge as he could be but there is definitely something new I'd bet a new car on the horizon.

Schumacher are always developing something he who stands still err stands still :D

I shouldn't be surprised to see some improvements but Im not sure a whole new platform

Of course I could be wrong (ask my wife !)

Will Schuey continue with belt drive? Seems the way to go is shaft drive.

Schumacher has a rich history with belt drive, re-using moulded parts and on top of that the 4WD shares a lot of the driveline with the 2WD - great for spares once more. I'm not so sure Schumacher will be keen on going shaft drive...

Just think they will change the gyroscopic effect of the motor. K2 is effectively 4 gear orentation at the moment.

The K1 was like 3 gear transmission and that had its issues. I think one of the issues is the size of the diffs and with the K1 series the size of the spur. When you look at the other belt drive cars that have appeared in the last couple of years none have gone well on high traction circuits, good on dirt though! The X Rays and B64 cars just seem a lot easier to drive and can be pushed harder easier.

I think they will do the same as the 2wd, release two 4wd one belt drive and one shaft drive with a possible conversion kit for them both 😉

No but if you knew schumacher at all you would know that the KC is belt driven but the KD is not, but you can buy a conversion kit for both. And to do the same thing but with a 4WD belt to shaft drive would be easy. There is only so much torque and pressure you can put through a belt and with the amount of speed and torque today's motors are producing a belt is not effective enough. Schumacher will eventually have to make a change. On a personal note I would prefer belt drive over shaft drive.
