Which Lipo and where?

Hi all,

Having done a race heat with my Fusion (running MMM,Neu1512 and 2x5000/20c) It has become apparent I'm going to need at least one other set of cells. I'm leaning toward the trackpower 4900's.

Have any of you any thoughts on a good pack and someone who stocks them?

The Trakpowers are probably the best cells for the money, with 25C Continuous and up to 50C Peak they can definately handle your set up.

Most places do Trakpower - just need to look out for the balance leads, as they only do ones to fit their V-Balancer, so you will need to solder on a different balance connector if you don't have a V-Balancer.

So what are most people running cell wise? I'm assuming 2 7.4v stick packs, as I can't find hardly any 14.8v cells, is this correct? How easy is it to fit 2 stick packs in etc given the second set of connectors?

I have run using either a Maxamps 4s 5000mAh pack, a Flightpower 4s 4500mAh pack (which managed a 15 minute nitro final) and a pair of 2s 5000mAh Core packs using a Y-lead I made myself.

If you don't already have a 4s pack a better option is a pair of 2s packs which can also be used in a 1/10th.

Are either of those 4S packs hard cased?

Doomanic 16-04-2009 07:10 PM

No, although I believe the Maxamps packs can now be spec'd with a hardcase.

In 1/8th the battery boxes used are pretty tough, so are actually slightly better than a lipo hardcase - they cover most of the lipo usually so it's not really a problem.
