DEX410 version Durango 2007

Hello,

I present you my crazy project!!!

First, the story:

In 2004 or 2005 I saw Bob Claes in Kampenhout for a training with his Durango. After that I was a Durango fanatic!!!
So I tried to contact Gerd Strenge to buy one, but I never received answer.

Here the Bob's Durango:

Hara's car without shell:
All parts are machined in aluminum or carbon

In 2008 I had the opportunity to have a Durango in my hands for few weeks. So I decided to draw a copy. For that I learned by myself the bases of Solidworks and I drew that:

After I modified the chassis to convert in 2007 version:

To finalize to project, it was possible with the Aeroracing Company. They made the specifics parts like the center driveshafts from the A-one.
So I ordered parts, I payed, but I never received the parts!! Thanks Aeroracing alias Bob Claes :(

In 2010 I bought a DEX410, I was happy, but it was not like an original Durango.
So I decided to adapt the transmission in my "project".
I modified about 50% of my drawings to install the DEX410 transmission, to use metric bearings and to use 25mm lipo.
And finally it's compatible!

Here 3d print to look if all is ok:

All others parts will come from DEX410!

After that I converted a traditional milling machine to CNC, I made the controller and I learned softwares to use it:

After some tests I can made the first aluminum parts!!!

Now I just need time to finish the project.
Milling take a lot of time and with the family it's not so easy...

Edit:

I tried to install all DEX410 parts, and it's ok!

Hi Maxoo
I see you sourced some prop shafts
What did they come from?
Here's a pic of my lipo chassis;)

Hi,

Good Job! Is it only for 23mm lipo's?
The driveshafts on the 3d printed test come from Tresrey. It's for the DEX410, but it's too short for the original Durango or aero A1...

Very cool project. That's awesome you were able to get your hands on the Prototype and recreate history......It seems Gerd is back to his roots as well (Serpent 500). Keep up the great work!

Amazing work Maxoo. I remember seeing for the first time a Durango at Kampenhout that year, they were incredibly fast.
