Show your steeds !
Seeing there isn't anything in this thread. I thought I would start.
What have you got, why did you go for it, cost or spec ? I'm after idea's for myself :) |
Giant
Giant XTC Zero carbon framed hard tail cross country mountain bike. Because it's light weight and a great spec. Is a few years old now.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps53147111.jpg And for my oldest. 4yrs. A Specialised Hotrock. Light and cool. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps447efbe1.jpg And A Specialised Hotwalk balance bike for my youngest 2 yrs. because it's really cool. |
I used to ride this but i had bad back problem, i had to sell this.
Norco DH 2011, very lovely shocks, so smooth over the bumps, on downhill track. http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/...37639009_o.jpg Now i am reduced to ride this. I dont suffer from back problem. Specialized Crossfit disc 2013. http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/...113_135747.jpg i bought it from pawn shop for £150. I upgraded the tyres to work in muddy track but rolls fast on tarmac, i run much shorter stem and much wider handlebar. it rides very lovely. I am currently saving up for other "downhill" bike but not as extreme as my old downhill bike. |
Current steed is a Trek Stache 8. I dont get chance much these days and full sus bikes just dont do it for a larger gent...

Nukeproof Mega AM Pro
I bought this in October, it's the perfect all mountain bike. Excellent down hill, fast trails, climbs jumps etc, massive spec too! Rockshock Pike RCT3 up front, Rockshock monarch RCT on the rear 160mm of travel on both single front chain ring, it's a beast! Lol

Pedals
The pedals are because I use the bike to pull a trailer with the kids in and my SPDs arnt a safe option with them on the back.

Good excuse, not heard that one before. ;)
I'm using ATACs on our tow bike. |

My trusty Ragley Blue Pig, steel hard tail. I did have a Kona Kula before this but I gave it to someone who needed a bike - then he bought a bike and sold the Kona I donated to him. WTF?!? lol. I also had a Santacruz Super8 downhill bike but again, I hurt my back riding that thing and ended up selling it. The only downhill I ever really did was over walls and jumping down stuff. |

Seeing I started this thread. This is what i'm looking at getting, is the spec good for the money ?

Lol. As I'm old that's how I justfy the susser. Old men ride full suspension.

It depends on what you require from your spec? as with all bikes they'll throw some good spec and then some lesser spec to keep the price competitive. The fork's are pretty good and priced individually probably half the value of the bike, reasonable group set but for my money poorer but not necessarily bad brake and wheel set, very ride able and reasonably solid the main makings of a good ride with singularly upgradeable parts if/when required.
Also depends on what you plan to ride, endurance, xc, all mountain, dh? |

I had a Scott bike last time and have a shop just down the road from where I live so good for backup. You have just confirmed exactly what they said so that's great. No BS to get a bike out of the door !! I'll be getting the bike through work (Cycle to work scheme) and it will be used for XC mainly. |
