SB401-LW Questions

Just wondered if anyone could answer a couple of questions for me?

I am very tempted to pick up a SB401-LW, I am just getting back into Racing after a few years off.

I like the look of the car and the spec looks good and the price is also good, but what options are people putting on the cars or are they good enough out of the box? Just trying to judge what I would have to spend.

Thanks.

Hi There,

They're an excellent car out of the box. They handle well, are very strong, and there is plenty of support for setups and advice.

It comes with a roll bars all round, but there is a set of heavier ones that are useful to further tune it to the track. Kit bars are fine to start though.

A lot of people use the 8 or 11 degree alloy caster blocks, but this is personal preference and some prefer the standard 5 degree versions in the box. I'd recommend building it standard to start with and go from there.

As with any car, there are always options to tune it to the track or driving style, but i wouldn't rate any as essential.

I have the earlier version and its bog stock.

Only tweak has been shock o rings and spacer in the shock cartridge.

I run centre slipper everywhere.

Only got mine at Xmas. Totally new to 4wd.

I'm now already at point where I'm chasing the quick guys at my club with it

Its very strong. And I mean strong lol.

I've broken 2 diff housings. after huge tumble and the front shock tower digging in. And a massive Head on impact from an airborne 4wd serpent.

Easy to fix. So no biggy.

I really love mine. It's reliable. Easy to work on. When I wiggle the sticks at the right time it gets the job done.

Hope to run it for next year too.
It's better than I will ever be so no need to change.

I really regret selling mine last year to buy another make...It was excellent out of the box AND strong too. That was the old model not the LW.

As soon as I can, I will return to the PR fold with excellent parts back-up and advice!

Exactly like Kev says, great out of the box. Mine is completely standard and works great on grass, carpet or astro. My sons has the 11 degree alloy carriers, but only to take some initial steering away (hes only 8!) I prefer the stock ones. We have a few different size roll bars, but the kits ones are our usual choice. Very very tough cars.

Will there be an updated 4wd in the near future just like the Type R Version in 2wd?
Thinking about getting one...
Thanks!

Will the EOS wheels fit on this car?
Thanks!
