Fellow vintage racers

What you all racing at the Roger wood race I'll be using my Losi xx not been touched for around 20 years same Motor God knows how it will go trying to coble together some wheel and tyres from the 40+ sets I have lol

I'm running a Cougar 2 but with modern electrics

Si Coe 10-09-2016 09:20 AM

Manta Ray with modern electrics, but still the old yellow plastic shocks. It died badly on me at the Oople Invernational but it was just the servo so should be OK now.

daz75 10-09-2016 09:21 AM

I think I may be struggling with my.old electrics against you guys :D

NeilRalph77 10-09-2016 10:36 AM

Rob might be running his Cougar I believe it's back together.

Thanks mate but I don't think the lipos would fit anyway and don't want to wreck the gearbox

NeilRalph77 10-09-2016 05:52 PM

If we're talking motors what are people thinking? I don't want to win buy a mile:p

daz75 10-09-2016 06:25 PM

my last race was indoors so i've probably got a 12x in it

Si Coe 10-09-2016 07:13 PM

My Manta has a 6.5t in it though I only have to one pinion so the gearing is a bit off.
Rob was planning on using his Cougar - the ZXR is his indoor car.

I'm running my egress. It's got a 10.5 in it boosted

daz75 10-09-2016 11:47 PM

I'm going to be coming last here lol

What tyres you using yellow mini spikes on the rear I assume what about fronts for 2wd?

NeilRalph77 11-09-2016 02:48 PM

I've got hammered yellow spikes front and rear, but most will argue staggers or cut staggers and rightly so that's what I run on the modern.

As for drive pins I've got you covered:thumbsup: 1/16 solid or 1.5 roll pins.

daz75 11-09-2016 04:24 PM

Thanks Neil I'll leave my part worn slim minis on the front :D

Si Coe 11-09-2016 09:23 PM

Yellow minispikes all round for 4wd. I'm not sure staggers would be right on a vintage, and I don't just mean for aesthetic reasons either. They don't have the turn in modern cars do. My RC10 also runs minispikes both ends - I tried staggers but it just didn't work right. It doesn't help that its hard keeping the cars nose down at all with a modern motor.
Curiously though staggers up front and minispikes rear is perfect on my RC10, but then a full truck width set of staggers is a pretty beastly tyre.

madmax 11-09-2016 09:44 PM

ive got yellow mini spikes all round on my egress ive put a slightley more modern wheel on the car ( Top Force ) so i can run the modern tyres as std wheels where 2"

rob m 13-09-2016 08:06 PM

I'm hoping to be running my cougar 2. If I get chance to put the electrics in. I will be using a 7.5t motor with a nosram pearl Speedo.
I'm thinking blocks on the rear as it may be kinder on the belt and slipper as they dont have as much bite.
