Receiver Antenna Wire Location
 

Hi,

I'm getting round to installing the electronics on my new B6D and I'm wondering what to do with the receiver antenna wire.

When I came down to the club the other week I don't remember seeing many antenna tubes sticking out of the bodies so I was wondering if most people keep them inside the body somehow.

I've got an Sanwa MT-4S transmitter/receiver package.

People do different things - either drill a hole in the body and use an aerial tube, or curl up the aerial wire and tuck it away inside, or tape down the aerial wire along the chassis, or bend an aerial tube and tape that down inside the buggy.

It depends on the quality of your radio gear. I go half way between the two and use a short aerial tube that sticks out to the height of the buggy, so I can be certain of getting good enough reception. There are also new receivers that have a built in antenna. They are more expensive, but there's no bother with the aerial wire.

I tuck mine parallel to the side pods on the chassis. Being 2.4Ghz, reception is pretty good even when hidden underneath the body shell. But for that retro vintage look, you can't beat a small antenna tube sticking out from the shell. :)
