Show us your flying machines!

I was asked to post the spec of the hexacopter I'm currently using so figured I'd start a thread to show off your machines.

I'll post detailed photos of mine next week but in the mean time the spec I'm running is:

DJI 550 with Aerial Media Pros 650 heavy lift conversion
Aeroxcraft landing gear
Avroto 2814 motors
Opti 30A speedos
Graupner 11x5 e-props
Original NAZA with GPS
Turnigy 9x transmitter with ER9x firmware upgrade
4s 4500 lipo
Fatshark Attitude SD goggles
Sony 25, 3.6mm lens fpv camera
Immersion transmitter and spiro (mushroom) antennas
EzOSD transmitter, receiver and battery voltage regulator (on screen display)
YUN-1 brushless gimbal mounted on iris batwing plate
FPV model Alexmos gimbal controller
GoPro Hero 3 Black in metal skeleton cage, not clear plastic case

It's a beast!

Some of my currently operating fleet...

1.5 wltoys v911's and a rev1 spec v949

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...231_155601.jpg

Closest to furthest: another (maybe) v911, a v912 and a DH9053 co-ax

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps7d819992.jpg

Acro quad:
SK450 frame
3s 3000mah turnigy cells
Turnigy D2830/11 motors
Turnigy PI 25amp escs
Turnigy 9X (stock) with FrSky telemetry module and receiver
SF 1045 props
The utterly awesome KK2.0 control board running 1.6++ firmware
No GoPro, no gimbal, no weight (sub 1K, just, with 9K thrust = stupid fast)

I'd love to see this thing fly - any video's Col?

Col 04-07-2013 08:21 PM

Nope!

Assuming I remember correctly... Neal says it's a little bit faster than yours, but not a massive amount.

Here's mine. No quads just helis.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-M...709_075200.jpg

V911, great indoor fun and dead easy to fly.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_...709_075313.jpg

V922, Proper 6ch collective pitch flybarless heli. Small fun and doesn't always destroy itself when crashed. Will fly outdoors.

Trex 450 SEV2, Proper scary when flown in the dining room! Will kill itself when crashed.

My 450

Still need to play around with the camera mount - but it's getting there...

What landing gear is that pal. Will it also fit a 330?

I reckon the landing gear is a must for me, as it gives it a little more crash area absorbtion ( if thats even a word lol )

Thanks

Col.

Beast!!

northernmonkey 22-07-2013 06:29 PM

Nice gimbal, good choice :)

You fetching it Wed night?
How do you find the ezosd?

James 22-07-2013 06:41 PM

Yes I've succumbed to the dark side and decided its better than the Yun1 gimbal

EZOSD is really cool, I like it, plug and play, all the info you need nice and clear. I'm really happy with the rig at the minute, it's flying better than it ever has done, and that's even with 2 x 5000mah lipos that weigh a tonne!

Yes I'll bring it if I'm not working weds night :)

The first rule of RHR unofficial flying club is that you don't talk about RHR unofficial flying club ;)

raymondkerr 22-07-2013 06:42 PM

some fantastic looking machines here. I'm wanting to get into Quads but have no prior experience at all. I'm looking for something which is ready to fly with minimal setup required to see if I'm going to be able to fly - before throwing silly money at it. I have a GoPro Hero 3 - and mainly want to record aerial video. I came across helipal and have been looking at the Storm Drone 4

http://www.helipal.com/product_info....oducts_id=8914

would this be a suitable "starter" quad ? or is there anything else out there RTF with very little setup ?

Cheers
Raymond

The DJI phantom is the perfect machine for you :)

northernmonkey 22-07-2013 07:23 PM

Agree with James, cracking little machine.

RHR flying club does not exist, its a myth!;)

Plus one for the phantom , I got one as a gift , never flown anything before and this thing is brilliant ! The go pro fits well , just make sure you balance your props and you'll really cut down on the "Jello" effect when filming !!

Easy to fly , and has a brilliant return home feature if your nerve goes or you lose signal !!

Just one tip , I've put a notice on mine saying
"Cash reward if found" then my mobile number ! Don't fancy losing best part of a grands worth of kit if I lose the thing with the camera on !!

raymondkerr 22-07-2013 08:17 PM

Thanks for the info guys. I had previously looked at the phantom but wasn't keen on its looks, but will give it some more thought.
