New Venue for SHRCCC / Work Party 22nd March 7.00pm

Exciting times for Surrey and Hants Radio Control Car Club

We are very pleased to announce that SHRCCC is on the move to a Great new venue. The new venue is located on the Cody Campus in Farnborough, 2 miles from the M3/A331 junction . Full address:

SHRCCC
Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College
Ballantyne Road
Farnborough
GU14 8SN

The new Astro track will be located within its own secure compound that will enclose the Track, Rostrum, Race Control and Pitting Area. The track will measure around 30m x 20m with pitting space located track side on hard standing. If you want to pit from your car, the adjacent parking is 10 yards from track side.

We plan to run every Sunday's (Morning and full days) and Tuesday's throughout the year for race meetings and a bonus night on Thursdays for open practice sessions.

The new facility has the added bonus of our own Floodlights, so evening racing will take place once or twice a week (including practice) all year round with zero light scheduling problems.

All the SHRCCC Committee members are really excited about this new venue and we will all be striving to get the track ready to host its first meeting in late March/early April 2012. We’ll be racing Thursday nights indoors as usual until then.

We have some great idea’s as to what the track should entail feature wise but if the wider RC community has any thoughts or suggestions of what they like, please let us know.

We’ll use this thread to update you all with track build photographs.

My thanks to all the people involved in this move, you know who you are, the hard graft starts now!

Neil and Darren, aka Dudders and Tartman

Why the change of venue?

Dudders 21-02-2012 12:45 PM

I had a few concerns there building a purpose facility to be honest.

I wanted hard standing to park on as the carpark (and also the track footings) are soooo spongey in the winter months, it's peat based and feels like a trampoline. In December when we walked on it we sunk 1.5" just by walking. Of course this is the first year we've been there so didnt know the conditions.

We've also had security issues on site as well, so I'm pretty fed up with over £1000 worth of gear stolen to be honest.

Also, the new site is near the M3/A331 which really helps and it has hardstanding, our own toilets with 10m of the track and of course the built in feature of Floodlights as I'm pretty fed up with lugging carpet and jumps around

Assuming this will be used for the Mid South Regional series 2012, May 27th 2WD and June 24th 4WD.

All sounding good, southern clubs making a come back. Reminders of the old SWORDS series from the 90's!! lol

TARTMAN 21-02-2012 04:38 PM

Yes.

Been a bit quite here of late so I'd thought I'd post an update!

Rostrum is in and ready.
Race Control is in and ready.
Astro is 2/3rds laid, couple more nights and it'll be done.
Jumps are being fabricated as we speak.

Looking like we might be ready within two weeks

Any 'sneaky' pics of the build?

Top job guys, wish I could help, but this shoulder now has to be immobilised for another 4 weeks before seen again.

If we start before then, I've really got to try to get a lift over to at least see it, if not race it! :woot:

really big space, and even with pitting tackside there will be plenty of room to get about.
Lots of work to be done but we are getting there little by little.

Will post some more pics after the next tack session wednesday evening. anyone else wants to lend a hand feel free. Sooner its done the sooner we can get racing it!!!!!!:thumbsup::woot:
