Vintage in Japan
http://www93.sakura.ne.jp/~time-tunnel/index.html
I'm sure many have seen this page already, but I wanted to post it just in case. The text is 99% japanese, but the pics are marvellous!!! http://www93.sakura.ne.jp/%7Etime-tu...6-7-16/009.jpg A Lucky Strike BAR Honda sponsored TRF'ish Boomerang! How übercool is that?! |
Egress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
sorry, got all excited!! Fan-damn-tastic ..... not seen that!! just realised it's not an Egress, just an egress body on some other chassis :( |
http://www93.sakura.ne.jp/%7Etime-tu...030prp1/09.jpg
(pic from site) Just bought a NIB baby like this, a Kyosho Progress 4WDS, which I had as a kid. It's grooby baby! :D Must say some of the pics on this site are worthy of being called "oople'ish"! I think that first pic is of a Boomerang, not an Egress btw. I'm gonna hop up a rerelease Hotshot with modern tires and see how far behind it's laptime wise... We'll be running a retro-class in 2008 at every 1:10 OR Nats round next year, it's gonna be big fun! http://www93.sakura.ne.jp/%7Etime-tu...0custom/83.jpg Modernized vs. Mint... |

What are the rules going to be????? |
Haven't you guys heard of birth control? You are overpopulated! :D
We're normally 20 drivers saturday, the same on sunday... so we have LOTS of room for fun classes... Rules will be: -brushed motors, max. 19 turs -not newer than 1990 models Other than that do as you like, it's just for fun! We're thinking about giving extra points for vintage hairdo, clothing etc... Move up north and you will be an A-driver! ;) If any of you guys wanna fly to Norway and race with us you are most welcome! Oslo, Norway track: http://www.ymr.no/bilder/Lars&SHY/4N...NMrunde2wd.wmv |
That Progress is ace, I have one just like it in the garage :D

Boomerang (first 1/10th car I ever owned) in the BAR colours at the front, left rear is a Mk1 Grasshopper MK2 (first 1/10th car I ever drove) in box art colours.
. . . . . . Then the EGRESS bodyshell in silver to the rear right hand side! Not sure what chassis it is on though ..... might be a madcap I have always wanted an Egress!!!! I was due to have one as my 1991 season 4WD (to go with the Asute I was running in 2wd) to replace the Lazer ZX I had been running (after a string of Mid Optimas) but unfortunately my father passed away the day before it was due to arrive at Puma Racing. There was no way I was going to be able to race (my mother doesn't drive) and we couldn't afford it anyway so I had to ring up and cancel it. Since then I've always wanted one. Driven an Avante 2001 which handled similarly and found it to be one of the smoothest, easiest to drive cars I'd driven to that date. Anybody got an Egress????? |
The silver body at the back in the top photo is a Madcap one, mounted on an uprated Madcap.
This is what an Egress looks like. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserima...2613_1_350.jpg The Grasshopper belongs to Grahoo and started life as a Grasshopper Mk1 but now has DT-02 suspension. Gearbox is a mix of TA05, TRF415 and WW2 parts. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_m...d=60259&id=418 Still prefer his TA04 based Grasshopper http://www.tam.ne.jp/nic/grh/grhnew.html |
My dreams are shattered ...... off to the pub :(
seriously!!!!! Still want an Egress .... |
Just post an auto search on ebay and I'm sure it'll show up before long! ;)
|

I sold it to buy a ProCat :p All epoxy, but a real race car. I wish I still had the lovely Egress though ! SHY, good to see you back ! How are you ? I have a few vintage cars myself : Hirobo Alien, Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid, Ultima Pro 2, RC10CE (runner), BossCat, YZ10W, Cat 98... And the postman is bringing me an Optima, my first car ! It was cheap as it comes without body, wheels or... screws :o |
i'm looking for some vintage rides ether a kyosho optima pro or a scorpion.
if anybody finds anything please give me a shout. |
Salut mon ami! Mais c'est trés bien, e toi?
I never left actually... just been a bit quiet on the X-5 forum... that damn thing belt skips so much I had to park it for a while. It's just been under the knife at a friends workshop. So now it has Olivier style belt rollers all over! :D If that doesen't work it will be parked for good on the shelf, waiting for it to become vintage... I won't do the same mistake as I did as a kid and sell my babies... trying to complete my blood line of cars now. I'm missing the Wild Willy I, a Wild One (I'll get the Fast Attack in stead), and maybe a mint Supershot. For vintage racing I'll get a rerelease Hotshot and Frog... How are you doing? Any more victories? I'm working in my home town for some days. Rounded up the old local RC guys for some retro beer drinking last nite, it was great! First time in 20 years!!! It seems like temting them with some vintage racing is the way to get them back! :D For anyone who's looking for vintage >> www.ebay.com -it's the place to find it!!! |

Apart from there just keep checking ebay. |
Terry, I never have worked out how the Tamiya club site works..... :eh?:
G |
@Terry, nice collection you got there! *applause*
Was the Egress any good in it's time? Back in 86 in polar bear land the Supershot was the car to own and race. But I guess that was just because we didn't know better... The TRF501-X in my opinion is the first 100% serious racing car Tamiya has ever made (I know Tamiya probably INTENDED previous cars to be that as well though)... |

It used to be easier to get around, but it's so big now (22000 members, 45000 showroom entries!) it can be awkward to find anything at first. A search box on the front page would help. Go to 'search' in the 'members' menu at the top of the page, type in the name of a car and all examples on the site should pop up. To see what everyone is selling/wanting go to the 'subscriber trades' in the members section on the top menu. The 'reference' menu takes you to specific Tamiya cars or any other make - a pity the other makes aren't separated out by model, that's why it's easier just to search for specific cars. The 'vintage media' section in the 'reference' menu has various old reviews, adverts and videos, not just Tamiyas. Blimey, I sound like a salesman:wtf: BTW here's Jimmys old showroom on there http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom.asp?id=17 And mine is the link below. |
Thanks for the link ........ that's going to cost me a few quid!!!!!! LOL
As for racers from Tamiya the Egress could hold it's own with anything of it's day, if a little fragile. The Top Force Evo / Manta Ray very nearly became Uk national champ in Jamie Booth's hands. There where also a couple of Astutes that did the rounds at the top end of the RRCi stock championship back in the day .... I certainly went ok with mine. I have yet to see a TRF501X in the flesh but it does look a great car, think it is the first Tamiya to make a Euro's A ... might be wrong, Jamie might have done that with the Manta Ray... . |
Is Jamie Booth related to Phil Booth (legendary 1:8 TR racer)?
