Winter Indoor National Series

Hi all,

I can't believe that we are talking about the indoors already - but there is something rattling round in my head and I want to see who's interested.

I want to organise an indoor offroad series for the winter - maybe 4 rounds with 3 to count. Was thinking of 1 round in Fivemiletown (polished wood), 1 round in Craigavon (Astroturf) and 2 rounds in The Naul (carpet) with one of those rounds occuring during the Xmas GP.

The spirit of the competition is to encourage racers from the DMCC and the other clubs to travel and experience new racing environments and hopefully (if successful) be used as a spring-board for a multi-venue outdoor series in 2012.

We would need all of the clubs to make their venue available for the whole day on either a Saturday or Sunday. Maybe Ed Acheson and Jim Lee could give us their thoughts.

Regards,

Will

Obviously I cant speak on behalf of the whole club but the feedback I got from the CVMCC members was that they really enjoyed the st.paddys day GP and would be interested in another similar event. I myself would be all for it, as it's a church hall sundays are out but most saturdays it should be possible to get the hall if it was booked well enough in advance.

Though my travel has been curtailed lately, and so missed the entire RCCAOI series, I'd do my best to attend such a series - I particularly enjoyed the time between heats on St. Paddy's Day, with no panic attacks from the McRae-enforced 5 second turnaround between heats!

It would be a mighty challenge, too, as the three venues couldn't be more different.

It would be an excellent experience for a young cousin of mine, just starting out - I'd definitely bring him along.

I would say you could safely count me out due to baby arriving and back to full time work.

I'll do what I can in the Naul but I would say they are going to be very few and very far between.

Sounds like a good idea but as ever it would be down to a hand-full of people who would actually do any travelling. Best 3 of 4 rounds so the "border" would have be crossed at least once by each "side".....lol
I'd say CVMCC would host a round OK as the St Paddy's day race was really enjoyed by all and anyone who knows me would like to see it without any obstacles in the way of a quick track.....:p

Id be totally up for this. I havent been over the border yet, and doing a championship rather than just the odd day here or there would give me a good reason to travel

Would be very interested in this from the Craigavon DIR Club point of view. Getting the hall for a Saturday should be no problem, and would be confident of at least a few of us who would travel to other rounds.

I would be interested in racing in a event like this. If the Dates suit i will travel for all of them.

There are certainly drivers from the south travelling. There are several drivers who intend on doing the championship who can't make it to the first round due to the MKGP, family commitments, injury etc.

This could present a superb opportunity for the drivers who do travel to get a head start in the championship.

I have to remind everyone that the championship final scores and awards will be based on your best three rounds from four. If you miss a round, you can't afford to have a bad days racing later in the year.
