TLR 22 Steering

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a custom buggy project, and I consider using the TLR22's steering rack on the car for it's simplicity and compact design.

Before I make that decision though, I need some things about the steering rack (as I don't own a 22).

1. Do you think the different geometry (sliding instead of rotating around two pivots) results in different handling? (And if so, how is the handling affected?)

2. How does the steering set hold up? (Does it wear down quickly or not, does it bind in dusty/dirty conditions due to the sliding mechanism clogging up, does it break easily or not?)

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Ive had my losi 22 since it came out and still with no problems with the rack, no grit or durt usually get in.

Hope this helps

Been through 3 rack assemblies in a season as they wear out and start to have play. Quite tight when new.

Not sure about the direct comparison with a more traditional steering as other things on the 22 make the steering/handling, well, a bit shit. But I like the idea of it, much more like normal full size cars.

This is THE steering mechanism. Period :)

Hi I ran the 22 all seasion last year with no problems. The rack does wear out but no more than i would expect, you would probable need to change it once in a seasion. As for how it would change the handaling, it just means that you can not change the ackerman very easy which is not always a bad thing though.
