FPV

It was inevitable! Need a thread for FPV.

Now i have started with fpv, what you guys got or plan to get?
Its pretty cagey flying round using fpv, fun but gets a little unnerving.

I will get some footage put up sunday from the weekends fpv'ing.

What gear did you get?
I think i want to see some before i buy mine.

Lets share our fpv setups.

Heres mine:
Goggles : Fatshark dominator with 5.8 video rx module
Video tx : Immersion 5.8 600mW
FPV camera : 600TVL SONY SUPER HAD CCD D-WDR (PZ0420)
OSD : minimosd loaded with KV Team for MWC
GPS : Ublox CN06 for RTH/PH functions and OSD navigation info
Vtx lipo : 500mah 3s zippy compact
Vtx antennas : ibcrazy ultra clover leaf (vtx) circular wireless skew plannar or helix (antennas are very important for a clean and nice range video link , cannot achive with standard rubberducks)
Buzzer : switch activated, great help to locate lost gear on high grass for ex.
theres more sofisticated locators but at least a buzzer should be used.

Frame:

RCW400 cnc cut, this is based on QAV400 but front is a bit shorter and G10 6mm arms
Motors: HK NTM2628 1200kv bit Amp hunger but fine for 8-10min flying
Esc : F20A Simonk fw
FC : Crius AIOP loaded wit MW 2.2
Lipo : 3700mah Zippy compact 3S

Very happy with this setup its pretty agile and flys slow also, very good for simple aerial video or just cruising around.
I've started with multirotor fpv 1yr ago with a Q450 its perfect for learn fpv feeling :)
Attention : FPV flying is very addictive since then never fly without goggles
Keep things simple and recognize terrain previously its very easy to get lost in the air :p

Whoops!

It was my first fpv flight using 7" monitor, thats why the flight was steady away. When I was approaching the cables I was flying LOS! Just didn't judge correctly, I actually thought I was past the cables.

Was that you in the shade of the shed? Where was your spotter? ;-)

northernmonkey 28-07-2013 09:27 PM

It was me. no spotter. Will be flying fpv on private land! Eg. Rhr  and the mother in laws place.

Flying that into the wires was scary - must have been a nightmare!

Re FPV - anyone seen / have opinions on the Hobbyking full starter set with goggles for $199.00

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...d_5_8G_TX.html

Looks like a nice one box setup for novices.

northernmonkey 14-08-2013 09:48 PM

That package is usable (so I've read) but think the resolution of the goggles will be the weak link?

Done my first full FPV flight today! All viewed using a 22" monitor.
Did take off and landing fpv

It was very windy!
