Cat 2000EC rebuild

1 Attachment(s)
Decided to bite the bullet and rebuild my Cat 2000EC.

Luckily got a fair few spares and a spare chassis, that I am going to build the car onto.
Hopefully going to eliminate the following issues:

1. Front of the carbon fibre lower chassis has started chipping and flaking.

2. Steering locks when turning corners and doesn't go straight when steering released. Which made it a nightmare when racing in the wet.

3. Drive belts are slipping, the short belt at the rear appears to be worn out.

4. Replacement of rear hinge pins which appear to be bent.

5. Change of all screws since most of them are mismatched.

Hopefully the car will be as good as new when finished, also got a new shell being sprayed by RC Bodies at the mo in Martini livery.

Just ordered a screw kit from Screwz 4 RC, never used them before but defo need to replace most of the old screws from all my bodged repairs as a kid.

Looking good, I’m in the process of rebuilding my cat 2000 se, I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a screw kit for mine, I bought one for my lazer and it was a really good kit.
Keep the pics coming !

I think you’ve convinced me! This is mine at the mo, was a real mess when I bought it, in the process of fitting electrics to it, I’ve got a new body for it but I’m completely out of ideas as to what paint scheme to go for!

How about a Kevin Moore inspired theme, seeing as he finished 2nd at the 1993 worlds on the cars debut.

Do you happen to have a picture of it?

That was his design that he used on all of his cars, ttech predator, Losi, associated.

Clean looking Cat that mate.
Started the build onto my new chassis and I've just found ive got a bent rear pivot brace and its the alloy purple one as well.

Gonna have to hit the internet for one as not got one in my spares box :(
I must of hit something hard to bend that! It was my car from when I raced in my teens. Joys of a full rebuild finding broken parts you didn't know you had.

catman79 24-05-2019 07:06 PM

I had the same thing with mine, they bend back straight really easy, fortunately!
It’s only when rebuilding mine this time round that you appreciate how far ahead of their time these cars were!

Car has been rebuilt bought a Savox servo for it and now I am in the market for a motor & ESC. Bury have a brushless motor cap of 10.5t for vintage so I am thinking of buying Hobbywing Combo Xr10 Justock Esc + Xerun Justock G2.1 10.5T for £85 https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/310274/

Has anyone used one of these, or would I be better of buying something where I can advance the timing etc?
