SRX2 Long arms and 4 gear laydown

Hey folks,

Is anyone running the longer rear arms on their buggy?

Also, I had good success with a 3 gear lay down on a low grip grass track with a gear diff. Wondering how my 4 gear lay down will fair.

I've been told that the 4 gear will have smoother power but then I've read there is generally more weight transfer from front to rear - not sure if that is more so with an upright gear box.

Anyone experiences this?

not tried 4 gear laydown as dont have it, but i dont like the effect of the 4 gear upright in the car. suppose it could be more similar to the cobra chassis as you dont notice it so much on that. 3 gear laydown with the shocks to the front of the tower is what i have settled on, car is really good to drive. one effect though seems to be that you lose more front grip as the grass gets more worn. going to experient next time out by adding a little weight to the front as grip goes down

I've not tried the 4 gear at a race day yet.

Not ran a 4 gear upright at all. Quite liked the 3 gear for low grip.

The car is fantastic as you describe above but I'm itching to test as many things as possible...probablybend uonback where I started though...

the package i bought had a mm converted to mh with 4 gear upright and a 3 gear laydown mh so have been able to run the cars directly after one another, you can really feel the difference with the changes then! i didnt like the 4 gear upright at all, too much difference on and off power for me, felt really strange and i couldnt drive consistantly, not that i am very good anyway,it just didnt feel right. 3 gear upright has loads of traction, but when it does slide its snappy not gentle. 3 gear laydown is gentle, predictable when it slides, and with the shocks in front of the tower it is really hard to upset it. you have probably found it similar! i havent changed much else on the car at all really, apart from my battery/ speed control arrangement.
my only thing i think i need to sort out now is how to add front end grip through the day as the tracks get more slippy, going to try adding weight on top of the servo as the day goes on next weekend and see if that helps, want to avoid any big changes to the car itself as it works too well as it is otherwise

What surface are you racing on? What tyres are you using?

Alloy bulkhead?

nice welsh grass!!! cut staggers front and yellow spikes rear, unless its wet of course. just the standard bulkhead. car is pretty much standard apart from a small attack of the dremel to allow me to run super shorty lipo with esc alongside it

On a par with our Scottish stuff

I'm very much the same, quite like BB Greens and Whites on the rear.

I'd quite like to see you set up with the wee shorty pack.
