Servo saver.
Hi All.
Just a quick question to see if any one uses a servo saver on their cougar laydown and which one would you recomend? I currently run a Savox 1251MG low profile servo? |
Not used one for donkeys years..1251 is pretty strong so should be fine.

I don't use a saver but wreaked a 1251 lp gear set as they are smaller/finer gears than larger servo, (even though specs similar, they don't like impacts) switched to 1258 and had zero problems.
From experience I'd not run a 1251 lp |
I've used a small servo saver in a Cougar, but it was not strong enough, and the steering felt strange. I've also used a 1251, which didn't last 5 mins, but I was using a metal servo horn. As Mark said, full size servo, with steel gears for me now.

Thanks for the reply's. I think you may be right and a full size servo will be a more liable option. The 1251 seemed like a good idea at the time as the low profile allowed more space for me to hide wiring but after its first club meeting using a metal servo horn the steering has now picked up a small notch when turning to the right. The servo still functions fine and the notch when operated is not noticable when racing so i might just wait untill the servo fails and then replace with a 1258.
