What's the worst that could happen...

If you were stopped by the police for driving a 250cc F1 cart on the streets in the UK?

Theoretically you get an ASBO. Just like the riders of MiniMotos

showtime 30-07-2009 11:29 AM

lose your licence?

almost definitely yes

its a bit like getting caught on a motocross bike which also depends on how many of the various infringements they actually do you for!

asides from the obvious tax & insurance you could also be shafted for bald tyres non type approved vehicle etc
plus the obvious speeding, have you driven one before?
they are MENTAL! :woot:
plus don't try & get round the tyre issue by using wets as you'd melt a set in 10 minutes in the dry

showtime 30-07-2009 11:43 AM

plus its a bit bumpy on the road!

Yeah i drove one a year or so ago, i used to race karts when i was a lot younger, then i got fat

I just fancy doing something nuts in a lee-mag stylee, i would have to do it in an area i know well so i could escape but getting onto pavements will be an issue, i would also dress up like the stig as well for a laugh

The appellant drove a mechanically propelled vehicle known as a Go-Kart on a road.
The Go-Kart had its engine at the rear, had a tubular frame mounted on four small wheels and was equipped with a single seat, steering-wheel and column, and an efficient silencer.
It had brakes which operated on the rear wheels only, and it had no horn, springs, parking-brake, driving-mirror or wings.

The appellant was convicted of certain offences against the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations, 1955, and the Road Traffic Act, 1960.

So YES - being a road traffic act offence - you also include, no tax, no insurance, no licence etc

showtime 30-07-2009 11:53 AM

well at least you'd have front brakes on a 250 ;)

RickRick 30-07-2009 12:14 PM

someone i might have once know, might have driven a 280bhp lemans type car on full slicks, no lights, on a private road at approx 90, which could have resembeled a section of 30mph public highway

I thought this through after watching getaway in stockholm ages ago. Only problem in the UK is the helicopters. Average time to get on scene is 4-6mins, and once it is on you you're pretty much done for. The law has tightened right up too. They now have the power to take your vehicle on the spot, and then haul you through court afterwards.

The only plausible way of doing it would be to go abroad. Take a wad of cash with you, and make sure it's not an EU country. I'd love to do a modern version of Getaway in Stockholm. hmmmmmmmm............

Yeah i bought the Kart Vader DVD before the advent of You Tube - its awesome !

bigred5765 30-07-2009 05:27 PM

personally i would like to see you do this around the streets in Monaco,

Lee 30-07-2009 05:45 PM

Over here it would be very easy, the roads are very smooth too and the noise in the tunnels would be awesome. The UK might be a bit more severe but still a laugh

Or...

You could lose control, hit and oncoming car, and never walk again.

Or, you could lose control, mount the pavement and sever the legs of a professional sportsman who sues your ass and leaves you a bankrupt who has to pay for the rest of their life...

Or, you could just admit the that idea's a joke, right? And I just got caught up in it? Yeah, that's the way I'll square it with myself. ;)

Lee 04-08-2009 08:43 PM

It's ok i am getting a road legal one
