GT12 BRCA costings rule 6.7

Hi, first post so sorry if this is a FAQ.. looking at getting back into a few races, ideally evenings.

1/12th looks to be the best option here in Scotland. Studying the rules and looking at the set up options this line in the BRCA spiked my interest. Can anyone explain how / what the sentiment is behind it ?

6.7 Rolling chassis kits for the GT12 class may not have a recommended retail price higher than £99.95.

does this mean you can only run stock versions of the chassis available or can you upgrade ? etc

For example - Schumacher Atom CC pro and the Zen are well above this ruling. Whats the score? I may want to run nationals eventually but at the club level I can imagine being left behind running a stock vs top of the line racer. however racing stock all the time would make more sense at the national level.. can anyone help out with this ruling ?

Cheers in advance

GT12 started as a budget class, but went nuts fairly quickly. It's now a weird 'not quite but pretty much' version of LMP12.

As ever, it depends on your budget.

thanks CJM, That is a real shame, further digging into the 2017 GT handbook gives the go ahead to spend it like Beckham.

From the handbook, it adds explanation further details of whats allowed in addition / as a replacement to the stock chassis (basically - anything goes!) however its not reflected in the rules only handbook.

Cars may be fitted with additional parts not supplied in the rolling chassis kit (see GT12

Construction Rules 6.7 and 6.7.1) including a differential in the rear axle, replacements for other parts and home-made parts.

There is now no price limit for gt12, was voted out at the last egm, there is now just homlogated chassis.
