I'm after getting myself a new 2wd car. In the new year. Could anyone recommend a car. Looking at doing the regionals. Looking at around the £200 mark. Where spares are easy to get.

Yokomo YZ-2 works well on most surfaces with minor tweaking, solid build quality spares are readily available at most shops

Hi, there's a few different styles of 2wd at the minute. Schumacher Kf/kf2 for super high grip tracks. Yokomo YZ2 (low gearbox design) med-high grip etc.

For me a good all round car that go well on all is the associated B5M. Very strong and goes well out of the box, easy to get spares, easy to setup. I regret selling mine, it wasn't as fast on carpet as my kf, but it was easier to live with.

Most of the tracks in my region are low grip. I've only ever owned second hand cars. So thought I would treat myself.

I'd go for the Team Associated B5M Champions Edition. Good all round car as it comes with various option parts like 3gear & 4gear transmission, flat & gullwing arms/towers plus all the essential hop-ups: ti toe/camber links, alloy ball stud mount, alloy hexes.

If you are after a nice Neutral easy to drive buggy b5m which does well in all conditions.

I drive a midmotored (for the wet) and low grip Kf (for the dry) and really like them but after driving the B5m I can thoroughly recommend it.

The new losi 22-3 when it comes out may also be worth waiting for.

Have looked at the new PR racing s1v3 this is a 3 gear laydown gearbox and the quality is right up there with the rest of the cars on the market, the price of the kit and spares are below the rest of the company's.

Hey Ross.

Not better, just different. KF's being designed for high grip astro they are very very quick on that surface but can be a bit of a handful at times due to their somewhat 'twitchy' nature.

I was running mine in the wet last night mid motor and it felt great. I then had a go on a mates b5m and it just felt so stable and neutral. I still love my kf's but was impressed by the b5m.

The b5m is designed for the primarily low grip tracks of the US so made sense it felt so good in the wet slippery conditions. The KF when you have got it right - flys, but I just feel the b5m is a more neutral easy to drive buggy straight out of the box.

Serpent SRX-2 MM gets my vote, especially if you aren't running in super high grip all the time. Cheaper than most other 2WD kits out there, built like a tank, has stupendous amounts of grip and stability, and most importantly, doesn't need hundreds of pounds worth of hop ups to get it to full team spec like a B5M might. Just under £10 to pick up some Acetal idlers and you're good to go.

Sworkz have just released theirs, quute a tough car with a lower cg gearbox that a few companies may be doing very soon, so may be worth checking out.

I sometimes think **facepalm** when threads like this appear.

However, from quickly reading this list it's quite easy to see how many great cars there are to choose from at the moment. And it's plain to see that there isn't just ONE car which rules.

Maybe just maybe times are changing where you can run a car you like rather than what everyone says is best.

Have I misread this post ?, I'm sure he was looking for a car around £200 new, now most of the cars mentioned here are far more than that. only car that comes to mind it the Schumacher SV2 at £160.00

If you are thinking of doing the regionals, and if I read it right you are from Lincoln, then you may be doing the Mid East Regionals. If so they are not low grip any more. They are mostly run on astro turf with West Bridgford being the only low grip, old school grass track.

The best advice I can give you, is yes look at the market, but then consider where you can get the spares trackside, if you break it. Maybe having the common car in the region you wish to drive may be helpful as you can get spares and advice easily.

I started with a B5m, still running it till we get our shinny new sworks 2wd s12-1m... but as the OP states hes looking at the 200 mark, most of the cars above are higher than that. the b5m is a cracking shout at around 200 or the b5m lite. loads of spares about and usually plenty of b5ms trackside so easy to borrow a part during breakage, ive run mine for the best part of a year and have not broke 1 part... i did strip a spur but that was due to the pinion coming lose, my fault i didnt check it. Easy to build too, youd not be disappointed. I cant comment on any of the others as I havent driven them. If you can up your budget your choices will open up considerably.

Hi , my PR S1V2 I have had this car sum time it has been run for over 190 laps in the wet without a single problem ball is still like and not one broken part.On my home track the car is the fastest in the wet over the rest of the field.If you was to buy this kit for the winter in the summer u can buy a kit to make it into a v3 for high grip.
