Thought id come back with maybe abit more moaning :)

Havent been on here for a while, but thought id show you all what im 'pikey' racing on sunday.
Im pretty sure alot of you are gonna think its sacralige (sp?) and jsut down right wrong, but before you say its a waste etc ill briefly explain what works gone into it, doors, bonnet and boot have all been made by me and a few mates, engine had lots missing which ive had to source, the wire wheel hubs have had to be machined down to take normal studded wheels, rear brakes removed as wheels rubbed calipers, roof welded back on, there was no interior when we got it. Alot of work and i mean alot of work has gone into it too get it just to 'raceable' condition, it really wasnt financially viable in our opinion to get it road worthy again.
I present my pride and joy, a 1957 Jaguar xk150, 3.8, twin carb manual lump.

Opinions good or bad welcome as one thats one of the reasons ive put it on here and 2 i dont think i can have much worse abuse put towads me than i already have from a few people i no :)

Rated piece of tin! Well done on all the hard work getting it out on track rather than letting some "enthusiast" leave it to rot to nothing on their drive on the pretence that "I'll restore it one day....."

I've seen some of the video from Sunday and hats off to you taking out a relatively small car compared to some of the Jags out on track. Hope you had fun racing it

bigred5765 06-07-2010 02:22 PM

Plenty of abuse on pistonheads.

It seems a bit of a shame to destroy such a classic, but it must have been in a sorry state even before you got hold of it.

some interesting comments on the price of the logbook as well.

Still can't see them, so I've sent a friend request. I'll put them on photobucket for everyone else (assuming friend request is accepted!)

Sort of 2 sides really with the state of the car, body wise, there isnt even a spot of surface rust on it anywhere, but it had so many panels etc missing and interior we thought we would let it go out in style.

DCM 06-07-2010 09:13 PM

it looks like it was restorable :(

savageman25 06-07-2010 09:14 PM

to a certain point mate, yes it was resorable, but the way i see it, is that even though it was a waste (and i think that i was driving) all the parts were selling/sold off it are keeping another going

DCM 06-07-2010 09:16 PM

Still, once it is smashed it is gone, innit, whilst it was straight, someone would of bought it and restored it.

Yes mate, i can 100% fully see where you are coming from, as i had alot of your sort of question/comments asked and said to me on sunday, yes the car was a waste, not being funny or trying to start an argument mate, but its my car, and i decided to banger race it, i can also see where the classic car people are coming from, but i dont ever hear about them moanin about a classic car that gets turned into a rally car or track day car and accidently gets smashed up then, to me the only difrence between classic rally cars and track cars and banger raicng is that in rallying etc its all a matter of time before it gets smashed up , while in bangers it gets smashed up almost straight away.

Col 06-07-2010 09:28 PM

Is it the same type of car as this one?
