Started my heats in 5th, finished in 4th or 5th. Started the final in 5th and finished in 5th!!! At least it was consistent.

Don't ask me how, I just kept doing it, over and over, with different combinations of tranny and receiver power. After about 20 to 30 goes it seems to have worked....
