So how's this fellas?
Used the X5 belt pulley bar, a screw up from the underneath though the aerial mount into that, and then the aluminium bar screwed to the original X5 strap.
To get it out you just rock all the parts backwards after taking the clip out of the front.
Well pleased with it, but thanks to you guys for the inspiration and advice concerning where to dremel etc.
