I have seen other places giving out extra points for those using old school radio gear, NiCd/NiMH batteries, brushed motors, and mechanical speed controllers, in addition to having motor guidelines and division by manufacture date, however those things probably only work when you have lots of folk attending
Probably best to keep it as simple as possible to begin with...
