Hello
Our race format on Saturdays is 4 x 5min heats followed by 5 minute finals. Hard case lipos are essential. We run 2WD and 4WD 1/10th scale buggies. The majority run 2WD as they require less maintenance.
We run the RC3 decoder so the 2 wire transponders are compatible. There are ones from AMB called 'Harry' which most people use. They are nearly £100 now but there are 2nd hand ones out there. MRT also do transponders which are cheaper but I have not tried using one of these. We do have a loan transponder you could borrow for your first couple of races to save you spending out all at once.
Have a look at the results site www.dmsresults.co.uk to see what cars people run. My advice would be to go or an Associated B6.1 as this works well and there are a large number of racers who use this buggy and could give you advice.
Marshaling is compulsory for the race after your own race unless there is a medical reason for you not being able.
Pop down one Wednesday evening or on one of our Saturday afternoon events and have a look around. We are a friendly bunch :-)
Hope this helps and hope to see you soon at our club.
John
