I am absolutely sure the DM will be competitve on astro in due time. As it has been released just a few weeks ago, set-ups have to be sorted out, and some parts deemed to be essential by many racers (gear diff, brass bulkhead) are yet to be released. As you can see on the blank set-up sheet, VBC has already thought of these items, so they should be available before long.
If you are not looking for the easy approach by taking the B5M, there is no reason why you should not give the Firebolt a try. Of course, I haven't seen one except for the pictures on the Internet and studying the manual, but I haven't seen any details that I thought would not work. Go for it!
