Yes the Xray steering link fits.
The weight is for the weight and a centre spine stiffener.
Yes you could used washers or something else under the gearbox but it would be a real hassle and not support the gearbox as well as the spacer.
I'd highly recommend the real items and I have no involvement with any shop so am not biased. But the inside line gearbox spacer is a work of art and perfect.
