I currently own an old-school Futaba T4PKS-R and as I am looking for something new, I took a look at various transmitters last weekend and talked to their owners. Reactions to the two radios could not have been more different. While the owner of the limited edition 4PXR was totally in love with his radio, the DX-6R owner was utterly disappointed and contemplated downgrading to the DX-5R. When it comes to manufacturing quality and feel, Futaba still is leaps and bounds ahead of Spektrum.
Bottom line: Of those two radios, I'd only consider the 4PX.
For myself, I am still undecided between the 4PX, upcoming 7PX, Sanwa M12S, and 4PV. While I don't like the wedge design of the M12S, it currently seems to be the gold standard. The 4PV is a bargain compared to the other radios and accepts the 4PX steering wheel drop down and angle adapters.
