Looking To Join...Help Needed
Hello
I am looking to come along to one of the race days and see what its like I also bought a LRP S10 Twister RTR (brushed motor) as a starter car, as I did not have a high budget to spend. Its also a 27mhz set but im going to be upgrading to a 2.4ghz set soon (as when i have the money lol) Would i need to upgrade before i can join, if i am interested? Many Thanks |

The Twister and a 27mhz will be fine, you'll just need to make 100% sure when you go out on track that nobody else is on your colour. 2.4 will be a lot easier as it takes all the worries and glitches out.
Good to start with something slower anyway, as you'll crash at slower speeds and therefore break less. Come along next Sunday to our indoor race, your first race is free. You'll find lots of people willing to help out on your first race.

Most people run 2.4ghz, which ironically means very few using 27mhz so you should be fine. Besides I actually think the club may own some spare 27mhz crystals somewhere!
Your Twister will be a good starting point, and being brushed isn't bad either as most beginners are terribly over motored. Learn to drive before changing too much - you might will make different choices that way too. Tyres are the most important purchase over all else. Make sure you have the right tyres - Schumacher Yellow Stagger ribs up front, Schumacher Yellow Minipins (indoors) or Minispikes (outdoors) at the rear. Without them it will be very hard to control the car at all.

Thanks for all your help
I am literally brand new to all this but very much interested in getting into it full time. Regarding the tyres/wheels? are these the 12 hex fitting with minipins? and do you have a link of where to get them? Will they fit the LRP Twister Can you give me details of when your next meeting/race is? I live round the corner from goshen sports center but is that just for summer racing ive heard? Im sorry for asking so many questions regarding this but i am quite clueless at the moment but definitly willing to learn Many thanks again Last edited by Col; 11-12-2012 at 07:59 PM. |

12mm hex fits are quite common so if thats what it takes no problem there - though the tyres themselves don't come prefitted to the wheels, they need gluing on. Buggy's use 2.2in diameter tyres.
Best bet is to go to JE Models and ask for Stu. He designed the Goshen track, used to be Bury's club chairman and is a national level driver. You can't really ask a better person what stuff you'll need to get racing at Bury. Actually most of the JE guys have run there and can help, plus its the local place to get stuff. Goshen is our 'summer' venue but that really means early spring to late Autumn. During that period its basically a meeting every single week unless its too wet. Over winter we are at Counthill School (Waterhead Academy) in Oldham, but only race once a month.

I don't think I can make it this month (due to visiting family for Xmas) but in the new year I'm definitly going to come and see what it's like I probably won't be able to race as I only have, at the moment, 3 x 1800mah batts which I don't think can last a race? Maybe... Haha, although I did buy a fast charger too I've seen a few model websites that the Schumacher tyres come with the white wheels? Or is this just showing what the tyres look like? Thanks again |

You can buy the tyres on the wheels but they are pin fit not 12mm.
Depending on your motor 1800mAh should be enough for a race - they last a little over 5 minutes. 3 packs will last you 3 races and you can recharge between them - will be touch and go on lasting but is possible. With brushless and lipo despite capacities of 5000mAh plus we don't actually use more than 1500 in a race normally.

Ah ok
Sorry for my ignorance again...what do you mean by 12mm and pin fit? the buggy i have as a little metal rod/pin through the axel and the a hex nut that fits into it, which then goes onto the wheel Sorry for sounding confused again thanks |

12mm is the size of the hex that goes over the pin

thanks i now understand...it is 12mm hex then
im looking then to put some disc wheels on does anyone know if any of these wheels would fit on the S10 Twister? http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/cml...9&range=RACING and if so, would any tyre fit on them or does it have to be the same make as the wheel? IE, if Team associated wheel fits on the twister, can i fir the schumacher tyres? thanks in advance |

Wheels at top are std pin fitment.
Wheels at bottom are losi/associated 4wd fitment (10mm hex) On 12mm wheels the hub on the car will have something similar the this: and obviously the "female" side on the wheels (same as the 10mm above, only deeper and larger) HTH

http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/cml...tId=0000006902 Regarding these, are these able to fit a buggy where there is pin through the axel, the 12mm hex nut them slots over the pin, then the wheel slots into the hex nut, and then the lock nut is tightened are these the same principle? these are the wheels/tyres i have now (which are stock) http://www.lrp.cc/en/products/vtec-t...pound/details/ http://www.lrp.cc/en/products/vtec-t...pound/details/ as i said, i want to get the right wheels/tyres to fit for indoor racing and join you guys Thanks again guys |

I've got loads of wheels and tyres on 12mm hex rims, if i were you, i'd just come and find me on Sunday and try various ones of mine before you buy. Just ask for Steve, or just Howler.

Correct, all my wheels are for my 22, and i dont plan to be running that anytime soon, so just send me a message reminding me to bring the wheels and tyres in January and you can see which ones suit you, i've got pretty much anything you could want for racing at Bury.
