RC10 worlds build spur too close to motor plate?
Hi all,
Probably me being thick but building the worlds car gearbox and the slipper/spur assembly scrapes slightly on the motor plate or sounds like it does? Also its that close i presume only flat face profile motors can be used? Looks like it need a spacer of some sort to me Cheers Dave |

The flats on the layshaft have been machined too far down the shaft, so the slipper plate is supported in the wrong place, there is stuff about it on the American forums. When I built mine I have a spare b4 layshaft kicking about so I swapped it for that but I would think if you contact CML they should replace it for you FOC as its a fault in the kit and not you have done something wrong.

I had the same with my kit. Emailed CML and they replaced FOC within a day or two. Can't fault them!

my bro just sent his back and they have replaced it
my bro just sent his back and they have replaced the layshaft which is great.... however there does seem to be alot of play with the spur, movement with the bearings etc, not put a motor on it yet but just a bit concerned that it will effect the meshing of pinion/spur leading to possible stripping..... anyone had this kind of issue?

i think with the older kits ( even though this is a re release) this type of thing has been improved upon with the later cars such as the B4 etc etc.
in this car the bearings sit pretty close to the layshaft gear giving the layshaft a lot more leverage over the bearings than that in say a B4 where the bearings are fairly well spaced apart. i built one of these and although it had play like you say your brothers had i'm really not expecting it to be up to modern standards and tolerances. its an old design, so guess it has all the old traits. |

ah i see ... thanks for the info.... would you recommend upgrading the bearings or perhaps the spur? perhaps this will help?
anyone out there used any aftermarket bits to improve the gearbox?

don't think it will matter dude, its just how they are.
has it been ran yet? as i don't think it will be a problem, just mesh it a little tighter than normal if your worried. i wouldn't be concerned about it tbh |

nope he's not run it yet ... just spoke to him and says cml are emailing associated US to find out more info ... think its more wobbly that i thought... ! its had a new layshaft and the cml guys tried different bearings but its pretty much the same.... im going to take a look at it tonight .... its a mistery!
