Starting again
Hi, I'm thinking of returning to electric buggies or SCT and am looking at the Durango rtr options. Does any one have any thoughts on them? I also would like to come to your club with my Son and brush off some of the rustyness!

Durango RTR
Hi
From my experience with the Durango dex210's seeing them out on track and owning the race kit version not the RTR for a VERY short period, they are a very forgiving car to race and are quite easy to handle BUT! very fragile, I was constantly knocking off turnbuckles and breaking hubs and trailing arms. The RTR version is made with cheaper materials than the race version so it would be even weaker. A comment that a seasoned racer made after giving up on his Durango 'it's better to finish last than not finish at all' He had originally raced a Losi 22 then sold all of it and bought all Durango kit. Within 3 months he sold all the Durango kit and went back to the trusty Losi 22 The Losi 22 is renown to be the strongest car on the market, so for younger ones starting out it would be and is my first choice having 2 boys racing them. Just my opinoin No doubt it will get drowned as I'm Losi biased |

I had no problems with my DESC210r at the last Shortcourse night, apart from the diff balls being made from cheap crappy metal, so far I've been really impressed with quality and strength of the kit

Thanks for the replies chaps I will probably get one to try and if it holds up well I will get my Son one at xmas. Just need to decide on Short Course or Buggy. I have ran an SC10 before but never a buggy in club racing.

2wd buggy is the way forward, Short Course is a fun/2nd class.

Also there are many running at the club so spares are avaliable should the worst happen. I am also a losi guy so am biased but love an easy life when trying to run 2 cars at the same meeting, why not come to a club night and see what you think of the car options. |

As with the Durango the RTR versions are not as good quality hence the cheaper prices.
If you are interested I have a few Losi's for sale, one is brand new and unbuilt, I also have loads of other racing related bits for sale near enough the full show bar a transmitter. Take a look at my eBay stuff (P.S. you won't pay te same prices as I have to cover for the ebay fees) http://dsa.ebay.co.uk/sch/sam6063/m....p2047675.l2562 I will probably be at the club on thursday weather permitting Hey Niel I may have to get my raincoat out |

22
strongest 2wd out there and perfect for returning/racing, cheap and reliable
not much room in them so if buying electrics you have to be selective if RTR then all good. I say go to Apex models and get a RTR 22. ideal starter/returner and easily upgraded. that's my opinion after running a 22 for a long time. just got another for the winter season as great buggy. as mentioned SC, sadly is not as popular as many of us would like it to be so yes its more a fun class with the odd meeting for them.

My issues would be race day spares/setup/strength.

Yeh spares seem to be an issue, looks good otherwise. Might go for a losi then. Unless ian had really rubbery arms that I can twist

Hobao seems very fragile and the kit shocks are pony!

Went for a losi 22 in the end. Better to have a slightly used decent kit rather than a low end new one I reckon. Just waiting for some saddles to make their way to me now :/
