BRCA 1/12th Scale NAtionals 2011/12 - Information
BRCA Nationals 2011/12 - what you need to know
The Dates are OCT 22/23 – Ardent (Cross House Farm, Kings Newton) NOV 19/20 – Hereford (Halo Leisure Centre, Leominster) DEC 10/11 - Tamworth (Wilnecote High School, Tamworth) JAN 21/22 - Plymouth (Tamarside Community College, Plymouth) FEB 18/19 - Teesside (Dukesway Industrial Estate, Stockton-on-Tees) MAR 17/18 - Chestefield (Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Clay Cross) To access the online entry system, please click here; http://www.brca.org/?q=catalog/81 Please note that you must be registered on the site and logged in to enter an event. If you are not yet registered on the site, use the link in the right hand menu and follow the instructions. Hopefully most of you will have registered last year, so it'll be a much smoother process for you this time round. Entries are taken on a first come, first served basis, and are only confirmed once payment has been made. Entry Info All events: Saturday is Stock Class (blinky speedos), Sunday is Open Modified. You can enter either or both classes. Entry Fee is £15 per day / £30 per weekend. So we have 6 rounds of the Stock Class and 6 rounds of the Modified class. To qualify for a championship finishing position you need to complete 4 events in a class. (e.g. For example if you work Saturdays you can just do 4 of the Sundays and you would get a championship finishing position for the Modified class.) Entry details will be posted on here and the BRCA website in due course. Full directions, hotel lists etc will be distributed in due course, and will also be in confirmations of entry. Other Info Finals are of the A-Z variety, trophies to top 3 in each. The stock class is for 10.5 brushless motors from the EB list and speedos set to run in ‘blinky mode’. A list of homologated speedos will be produced by the electric board soon. This is likely to be very similar to the exisiting list used by ROAR in America, so use that for guidance The Open modified class is for any BRCA EB homologated motor and any speedo. Dynamic timing advance and ‘boost profiles’ are allowed for this class, so there are no restrictions. There are also separate championships for Formula 2 and Formula 3 (All drivers are placed into a Formula based on their ability, by the qualifying officer) this runs over the year and is based on the same format as the Open or Formula1 championship described above. So essentially at events you qualify and race against people of roughly your own ability, there is a Championship for drivers of all ability to chase, and you don’t have to do too much road mileage to qualify for it. (Though I would personally recommend making the effort as they’re all excellent meetings.) The timing system used is RC AMB; personal transponders are required. European Championship 2012 – there isn’t one as the Worlds are in Europe (see below) World Championship 2012 Heemestede Holland, sometime during the summer Entry Requirements: Do you want to go? Let us know when we start asking who’s interested in going – the UK will be given a number of places that will be allocated by applying the handicap to the championship listing. Having said that, at the last worlds in Germany pretty much everyone who asked for a place ended up getting one. Changes for 2011/12 Blinky speedos and 10.5 motors only for stock Open modified only for Sunday (sports mod no longer exists) Anything else that needs clarification, please ask away |

sorry for the silly question, but is this like offroad where access to meeting is preferential to f1 grade drivers? Quite fancy a bit of this indoor(warm) onroad stuff, especially 12th!

I would recommend having at least 3 sets (6 if your budget will stretch!) that you rotate between runs (6 runs a day). Otherwise the additive softens them up too much and they turn to mush. They can be left to dry for a couple of weeks and then re-used at the next meeting. You'll generally get anywhere from 3-12 runs out of a set of tyres, depending on wear and what your budget allows. The guys that have been doing it a while usually have a box of tyres of various compounds and diameter, as they can be used as a good tuning aid on the otherwise simple cars. With regard to brand/compound selection and answers to other frequently asked questions and topics of conversation - check out the technical articles on www.brca.org. Go to 'sections', then '1/12th electric circuit', then 'how to's and general questions', then 'technical articles'. |

Actually quite tempted by 1/12 and have been for a few seasons. Might have to see about getting to atleast a couple of meetings during this winter.

Whilst I appreciate there is a bodyshell list, the reality is that there are three shells that work on the track. Most popular is the Protoform AMR12, which works well everywhere, especially in Modified. Next up is the Black Art/CRC Bomb'r. This has more steering, and is favoured by some drivers and useful in Spec class. Least popular is the Parma EE1, which tends to give more mid-corner rotation at the expense of turn in and exit speed.
Most people would choose the AMR12 for both classes. HTH |

We have been running 10.5 blinky at the club I go to for a couple of months now, and what we find is that motors that can have the timing advanced run at around 58mmpr, whilst my original GM (with the fixed endbell) runs higher at around 62.5mmpr. There is next to no differance in the performance of the motors however the advanced timing guys motors are mega hot at the end whilst mine is not even slightly warm by the end of the run! So, it may be the case as the season progresses that people wind the timing back from the endbell and gear it up instead. Works for me at the club! Cheers.

I've just got a Speed Passion GT EX 1S for this series and that's not on the list but the identical Hobbywing Xerun 120A-1S is.
Who is the best person to contact about this discrepancy? |
